I was quite optimistic before I saw this line-up. No pressure from the Amex home fans etc but Igor at left whatever is a disaster and Ayari needs to do something special. The manager doesn't seem to know his best team or even his best formation. Villa and other top teams seem to be able to...
Well I'm afraid to say that is how I saw it. All he did was ping short passes to bart or jvp( who is now the dominant centre back). No long pinpoint passes of yore and woefully lacking in pace. Igor to start for me every time. He should never have been dropped just to slot in an out of form...
Absolutley-BUT JPVH cannot play as the rightsided CB in a back 3. The pairing of Igor and him in the middle worked very well. Dunk should never have been brought back in when he was.
What message does that send to the team? Nobody has a divine right to be picked ahead of players in form.
Any updates on any of these?
Unless I've missed something the club have been very coy about the extent /nature of their injuries/ possible return dates.
🤔
De Zerbi had no plan B - tippy tappy, work it up the pitch and pass it into the goal. This worked well and drew lots of praise untiil teams worked us out.
Huerzeler is in danger of also having no plan B- high line, lose the the ball upfield and slow defenders get sliced apart.
Its all very well...
Not entirely sure it was offside. Yes his foot is beyond the villa defender BUT what is not clear and is not shown on VAR is the position of the ball when it was passed across. If it is ahead or level with Gross's foot then he is not offside.
