There really isn't much to see in Newcastle from what I recall. A good place to just focus on cricket.

That's true, although I remember Steve Smith not waiting for one against Woakes back in 2019 and just turning his back and walking. He was more plumb than the ripest plumb in plumb land.

I'd say more deep backward square

I was at our final game of the season in Mid-Sussex this weekend. But where was I ?

I think you may have another brother, initial D, who I bowled to in a match in 1990.

GB was closer with Staplefield, although needs to travel much further north east. Can't be Southwick, the batsman looks like he's eying up a maximum :D

Not Staplefield, no. I still haven't forgiven them for denying that last over lbw in 1992.

We're playing here Sunday, if the weather allows. The scene of my favourite ever picture I took for our site. So VILLAGE. Can you guess where in Sussex it is ?

As a side note, this day in 1980 John Arlott put his microphone down for the last time. It was the following year that I married cricket so I missed him completely. Do folk have any memories ?

Henfield last week. Oddly, my first visit in 44 years of marriage to cricket. Over 400 runs in the day and a final over finish.

My sort of game. Blocking for 137 balls. Love it.

What an odd badge. Not sure I would fancy that on my shirt.

Goodrington, Paignton. 1973. My first innings. Intensely focused. Standing slightly outside the crease, aiming to play my Dad's underarm on the full.

If it wasn't you, I would just say that there is no cricket team, you stopped playing years ago, and decided to work on a village Eastenders script.

My team suffered it's biggest ever defeat in living memory there a a number of years back. Fittleworth rattled 200+. We were all out for 30 something.

Perhaps not. There is a reference to 'ahead with the run rate'. Boycott and Brearley would have had to have asked what 'run rate' was that day. They thought they were playing a Test match. I'd say it was more Leeds 1992. 290-2, 320 all out. Although Wasim and Waqar were probably a tougher...
