I don't agree that's it's subjective. He was definitely interfering with play, therefore offside.

I think it's deliberate rather than controlled from the defender. But not when the offside player is making the defender make an attempt.

Howard Webb has said the goal should have stood. WTF is wrong with these people? Bart is clearly looking at the Armstrong until the ball passes him. Offside is clearly the correct decision, and yet they're now saying it's incorrect :facepalm: EDIT - so it may just be the stains manager...

Even that shouldn't cancel the offside. Van Hecke was forced into trying to stop the ball by the player next to him who was offside. Players in an offside position are flagged offside just for chasing a ball and making a defender play it.

A lot of people are stupid. I'm not saying that's awful, there are other human characteristics we value above intelligence.

A player shouldn't need to make an attempt. We'll regularly see a ball over the top chased by an offside striker and a defender. When the defender gets there first and does something like kick it into touch, the flag goes up as they were forced into it by an offside player.

This. I don't see why it matters whether he tried to flick the ball or not, you can see Bart reacts to him being there and prepares for a shot from him, so he's clearly interfering with play.
