Living in Bristol we've had a lot of Irish in the pubs this week. Universally their opinion is that De Zerbi isn't giving him a proper chance. He's clearly very, very highly thought off. This is across generations - they all see him as a unique player. I've been fighting the club's and manager's...
Definitely truth in this. Might be catastrophism but crikey if we have a poor season it's feeding season.
Luckily I think if we get a couple more in we could do even better this year. Seen nothing in the opening rounds of games to be that fearful of (except for Wolves, not expecting much Sunday).
We really are living in bizarre times almost entirely altered by Chelsea. Every club now seems both paranoid and utterly obsessed with youth. For half of the likely fee for an 18 year old who's played a handful of games you could buy a world class striker. It's nuts.
Given how good Evan is I think we can confidently say there's no other young Irish strikers getting close. To be that lucky is a stretch even for the Irish.
I think this just shows unique he is. Most teenagers would be busting a gut in preseason. But he's so calm and confident in his ability. Much more like a seasoned pro to treat those games with a certain amount of irreverence. Looked absolutely bang up for it on Saturday.
He's already worth 100 million. Watch his goals. His finishing is outrageous. He looks the complete striker already and he is 18.
Every time he comes off the bench he makes a difference, usually scores. Even that turn and shot that hit the post was exceptional.
If Talksport want to be taken seriously they need to ditch Goldstein. Apart from looking like some desperate Loaded magazine z lister (it is radio after all), he genuinely seems to know absolutely nothing about football. It's not even trolling, he's just clueless. Not sure he even likes the game.
It's mad to think he is publically saying he wants to say. Let's get real here, every major club in World football would sign him. Gosh we've got good.
It would have to be a hell of a fee wouldn't it? He's a striker. Nobody is going to pay what we'd consider. Still there's going to be a hell of a lot of rumours over the next season or two.
