[Albion] The high line is great

so the problem with the high line is players aren't comfortable with it, get rushed, make mistakes. apart from that it's fine.

[Drinking] The Pub Debate - Weatherspoons

as i recall he said openly what many companies just kept quiet about: shutting the business meant no money coming in, so staff wont be paid. ever heard of a business close indefinitely keeping their staff on? i think he spoke not believing government would do furlough, and days later it was...

[Football] Diarra legal action against FIFA (Bosman 2.0)

seems two issues. first is the judgment that if a player is out of contract, they can play elsewhere and FIFA cant restrict that. second is standing of contracts. interpretation is that either first issue invalids contract or makes it more likely players will press for moves. i dont see it...

    [Politics] Labour Party meltdown incoming.......

funny how some people go to so much length to discredit a technology that may be the only feasible way to achieve net zero. it's as if they dont want that to work and have another agenda.

yeah, getting this wrong by not looking at the long term. take a view that difference is the cost of training. they'll be earning considerable more than those just picking up regular unskilled work after the training is complete.

    [Politics] Labour Party meltdown incoming.......

it is a conincidence. that funding is over 25 years and was mostly already planned. makes use of the old oil and gas fields, creates a new industry, actual does something useful towards delivering net zero carbon.

    [Politics] The Labour Government

that's the significant issue with renewables that gets overlooked or deliberately hidden. the additional infrastructure, storage, backup power dont get added to the total cost for the wind farm. then there's the whole market CFD model skwed to make earlier renewables look cost effective, then...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

most danergous is silly click bait, which is a shame because it'll discredit some of the useful points being raised. Miliband will be allowed to run with the zero emission ball until it becomes evident its not deliverable, and dependable power is prioritised.

    [News] The Great Carvery Debate

yeah, wasn't clear to me that it was an all you can eat, what with the plates full of meat, usually rationed. leads me to another obvious solution for the landlord, stop offering all you can eat.

    [News] The Great Carvery Debate

while i can see wanting to do something about waste, those are simple half (if that) eaten. not really going to hit his margins if someone takes their portion and doesn't finish it. i wonder if he considered offering a half size carvery for those with less apettite?

[Sussex] Knife crime at Royal Sussex County Hospital

has a whiff of at least misreporting about it. why would a surgeon be looking for scalpel? if none available wouldn't surgery be halted before he even went it? why would he have penknife on him and be able to root around in gown to get it?

[Technology] UK's last coal fired power station closes...

the entire point of a steam train is they are running on the original old steam engines. an electric boiler negates this even if it were viable to swap in. you might want to look up the total pollution and greenhouse emission of your internet use, then cut that.

[Technology] UK's last coal fired power station closes...

one day, in about 10-20 years when it's all rather too late, we'll realise what net zero meant. stop burning coal for power is good, stop using coal in blast furnaces not so much. you're still going to use the steel so just defering the emissions elsewhere. there's a lot of self-deceptions and...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

pretty sure standards committee dont actually mind what the interest is, as long as its registered. it's Starmer who has decided in this case to give a reason that is a bit dubious. should have stuck with the original Labour HQ, less further questions. he's been misleading, some think it...
