I agree in general but this is contextual depending on the club and the situation. Firstly, now the “richest club in the world”, resale value is a term Newcastle need no longer worry about, to a degree.

People say 29 like it's 1992 and defenders retire at 31. In this day and age he has 3-4 years of top flight football in him and is just entering his physical peak.

Absolutely agree and we’ll be reminded of this for the rest of the season. One of the silliest transfers out we’ve done.. Makes you wonder what was being said in the boardroom to only go for approx £13m. It’s done now, but we well and truly got bent over with this one.

I’m saddened for many reasons surrounding this transfer and can’t quite articulate my disappointment at losing a cult icon to Newcastle.
