Still don’t think it looks that strong. Granted Mitoma coming back in makes the front 3 look excellent. I’d like to see another central midfielder personally instead of Gilmour. That may well be Baleba, but I think we need another big signing there. Also a right wing back, but that’s not saying...
Thanks for this, really helpful saved me the job. As the conversation is about adaptability from the Dutch league to the Premier League, let’s analyse those players…
- Antony, useless waste of space
- Lisandro Martinez, good on his day, forever injured. When fit, good player admittedly
- Kudus...
Yes it does, as per my above post. Signings from this league very rarely work for any club in the Premier League. It’s easy to have good stats when you’re playing against league 1 opposition every week. Laurence Shankland scored 31 goals for Hearts last year, doesn’t mean I’d sign him for Brighton.
Dutch league is piss poor let’s not sugar coat. It’s comparable to the Scottish league. 2/3 decent teams and then a load of rubbish that would probably get relegated from the Championship.
Thankyou. There have been a few success stories for big money for sure. Most recently Kudus, then you have to go back to the likes of Suarez to find anyone who’s come directly to the Premier League from the Netherlands and done well.
There are so many examples of very expensive flops across...
A one off example, from a market that we hadn’t used much at the time to be able to make informed decisions about if players can adapt from South America to the Premier League. Now everyone knows South America has players which are suited to our football. We’ve had 11 players from the Dutch...
So 8 of 11 were failures, and of those failures a fair few failed in the Championship not the Premier League. So please someone tell me, why am I ‘utterly dumb’ (replying to another post not this one) to suggest, based on these facts, that there is a strong reason to question this signing?
We’ve learned the hard way about big fees for Dutch league players on 2 occasions now, I’d like to think we’re no where near those sorts of numbers if indeed we are interested
