There is no way our club captain, who also signed a new deal when it was obvious was not in GPs plans is still earning the same - or less than Duffy
And was always the case - indeed many Irish players played for both international sides over several decades - the great Johnny Carey played 9 times for the North and 27 times for the Republic. From the great Irish team of the late 1940s - Billy Walsh, Davy Walsh, Tommy Aherne, Tommy Eglington, Con Martin and Peter Farrell (all born in the South) and all played for both the North and the Republic (actually for Ireland as the Republic of Ireland didn't exist until 1949).
Im no specialist but I would argue that Dunk's agent is doing a remarkably terrible job in getting his client a new contract almost every year with very little increase in pay. That would be utter madness for a player that was being touted to top 4 clubs as recently as last year (Chelsea). He will most likely be the top earner or equal to the top earner. Most definitely not in the lower tiers that you suggest.
