I was chatting to a steward yesterday who said that not opening the West Stand actually saves the club money in the long run. Is there any problems using the East Stand as the away end until attendances increase?
We look at this on a match by match basis. It depends on the opposition and the way their fans normally behave, how many tickets they have sold, how many tickets we have sold in the family stand etc. It does not actually save much money; a bit of electric that’s all. The staff (stewards, cleaning and catering staff) attend anyway. The main reason for doing it is to give the away fans a better view when we can.
