Roma, now managed by former Atalanta gaffer Gasperini, in talks to sign O’Riley per Italian press. Our asking price is reportedly €25m, O’Riley wants the move apparently. https://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomerca...ato-tutte-le-notizie-di-oggi-la-diretta.shtml

Interesting summer ahead, could be a record number of first team squad departures.

Estupinan
O’Riley
Ferguson
Enciso
Pedro
Adingra
Igor

That list includes several, going by media reports, who want out. Some are so good, they seek the next chapter.

Hopefully we keep:
Mitoma
JPVH
Baleba
Rutter

Nice lad and he’ll look good in those Italian suits!

However, I think letting him go is the right decision if that’s what he wants. As it is for the others you list ( with the exception of Pedro but it seems we have little choice there)

All of them are reasonable squad players but I think have falling short last season of where we need them to be - Hürzeler next season will be looking for consistency -
The disparity is too much between players to achieve that at the moment IMO - every time we have one of our starting players injured or serving a match ban, there is a significant drop in performance.

We need the Rutters, the Mitomas, the Balebas and the JPVHs to be our optimum level across the whole squad instead of it dropping to the level of the lowest common denominator or at least for the others to show the potential to reach the level of our best players.

This is a shame IMO as he is a proper footballer. He’s a footballer first and an athlete second. There are too many players in the EPL who are the opposite. The Italian league will suit him I think.
Very astute observation.

We've got Baleba, Hinsh, Ayari and Gomez playing the pivot and Buonanotte, Gruda and Rutter playing no 10. He's a good player but probably better suited to Roma and Serie A
Indeed. But you can add Milner to that list now and potentially Yalcouyé or even Ounahi if the rumours are correct.

Astonishing competition in the middle of the pitch but absolutely nothing fundamentally wrong with O'Riley, just the predicted lack of game time he'll be facing.

Should do, more time, less frenetic, if he went anywhere than the PL he’d probably be a success.

I think I'm entirely the opposite perspective to you. I've seen tons of running about from him and hardly any football. I've been shocked by his passing. Under hit, safe and slow. I just presumed this would be the stuff he was good at. He looks really tentative all the time. Maybe a slower league (if that's even true of Italy any more) will suit him.
