That leaves us with only 12 months to find a replacement end of career, crocked, ex Liverpool, dressing room cheerleader on big wages.

Someone get Oxlade Chamberlain on the phone pronto

This doesn't make a lot of sense to us fans, but the club probably knows what it's doing.

Suspect if we were flies on the wall in the team dressing room it would make total sense.
Why? What exactly does Milner offer to the playing side? Which is the only side that matters. Woopie-do's he speaks Spanish, but then again we shipped out most of our Soanish-speaking starlets with undue haste last Summer. Doubtful any of them would have listened to that old guy, old enough to be their dad, in any case.

Last Summer's transfer window was a triumph of quantity over quality. This Summer's early indications don't look all that promising...

The only thing we fans get to see is what happens during the 90 minutes every week.

Hours and hours of training happen in between that.

Do you reckon training with players with 1,000's of hours of top level experience, top trophies, international experience, and still able to put in a shift in the Premier League is likely to be beneficial for our young players?

I suspect the club does, which is why we like players like Lallana, Milner, Welbeck, etc.

The club doesn't get a lot wrong - and we have a very good track record of developing young talent.

I do get the points that it's a bit of strange move solely when you look at solely on field contribution. But obviously that's not why they've extended the contract and everyone knows it.

It'll be mostly an economic decision that will take his wages, let's say 1.5-2mil for the year, and ask the question whether his standards and personality will improve the players around him to a market value of greater than the cost of keeping him for a year. The club clearly thinks, yes he will.

When we have so many u21s being played (that don't need registering) we don't really need to worry about him wasting a spot in the 25 man squad.

I just can't fathom how he's been out injured for so long, with what was only ever described as a muscle injury. There's been no news of any surgery, and his injury record before that was exemplary. He's always been praised as having a fantastic level of fitness throughout his career and has looked after himself well.

I think the only reason we would have given him a contract, is if the medical team are confident he will make a full recovery in the near future

You reckon?! :lolol:

I honestly thought they would just SPAFF a load of money up the wall on a past it, perma-injured player just for the LOLz and clicks on NSC to earn him and the rest of the mods enough money to retire!

You missed a big story on it a week or two ago.

He had knee surgery, and complications from it.

Not where I want
Maybe we should wheat and see
It was bizarre enough keeping hold of him last season and inevitably be barley played,
Now you've corn and done it. I'
I think his time with us is being turned into a cereal

(I'm in btw, he can bring a kind of This City is Ours authority to the training ground which might be handy when you (allegedly) have flare-ups from our player whose Dad was (allegedly) a gangster)
