Dagan posted a similar thread last season – although they were last seen on here on 30th August 2024, the day the window SLAMMED shut.

Interesting to see a couple of names in yellow (offer reported) on that list ended up turning blue (SINGED). Eventually
Yeah. Annoyingly the yellow ones right now are rumoured to have Newcastle and Forest piling in and gazumping us.

I can only hope we get the signings we need. Feels like other clubs don't need to spend money on scouting, but instead just put that money towards a bigger payment on the players we have scouted for them 😂

Report in Portugal’s “Fichajes” says Manchester United are keen on Estupinan.
They can piss off.

We can't be losing fullbacks this window, when we were so threadbare last season.

We need to be in a place where we have a very strong starter and at least solid backup option pushing for a place in the starting 11 for every position.

If this is the case it's time we started a disinformation campaign - if we haven't already!

Noting here, that the two players on that list it's rumoured we're actively bidding on right now are:
  • Kostoulas - £40m
  • Cuiabano - £10m
The spreadsheet has Cuiabano on the "Off Market" tab, as Forest are competing for his signature, but rumours are we're still in the running for getting him.

Lots of other rumours etc. but there's enough noise on these two, that it feels like something is going on. 🤞

Nobody takes what Fichajes say seriously! It’s a football gossip rag and not known for verifying what it reports.

The squad is looking very strong now! There'll certainly be a few leaving to trim things down, but with the new additions and the returning injured/loan players we now have good options all over the pitch. For strikers, support strikers, wingers, attacking mids, centre mids, centre back, and goalkeepers we have strength in depth. The only questions remaining seem to be regarding full backs (Is Pervis going? Do we need a new first choice right back?), and if we are going to need to replace a big sale (Mitoma, Van Hecke, Baleba, Verbruggen. Seems we've already replaced Pedro with Kostoulas).

It's going to be very interesting to see how we sort this challenge out. We do have Boscagli (TBC), Wieffer, March and Hinsh who can fill in at full back but I suspect we'll want much more consistent options who (fingers crossed), aren't spending most of their time on the treatment table.

We have the numbers needed at present but it's obvious that we don't have the correct personnel at this point as some could leave permanently or on loan.

Veltman
Lamptey
Estupiñán
Kadıoğlu
Barco
Offiah
Tasker

Yes, we have the numbers, but questions marks over nearly all of them.

Veltman - Had injuries last season, and 33 now.
Lamptey - Good going forward, & as RWB, but can struggle at RB against physical/pacy wingers.
Estupiñán - Will he still be here?
Kadıoğlu - Is he recovered from his injury?
Barco - Does he want to be here? Is a sale already agreed?
Offiah - Inexperienced at Prem level.
Tasker - Inexperienced at Prem level.
Weiffer - Played well there, but primarily a centre mid.

We still havent fixed what imo was our biggest issue last season. More older experience across the side to help the kids in adversity on the pitch! Especially if some of the more senior players look like they might be moving on.

I don't think that's particularly true.
We did alright in adversity last year; indeed getting the highest number of points from losing positions than any team (including coming from behind to beat Man City, Liverpool, Spurs twice, and drawing with Arsenal twice).

Our main problem was not having enough nous to breakdown the low blocks at home, and a little bit of naivety when ahead (Leicester twice/Wolves)

Steele, Dunk, Veltman, Webster, Milner, March, and Welbeck are all 30+. Mitoma is 28. Pervis & Boscagli are 27. That's 10 players 27 or older. Given the older experienced players need to fit within the 25 man squad, how many more do we need?

Sounds like Estupinan wants out:

“It’s been three years at Brighton, a time of great learning, but it will be a busy transfer window,” Estupinan told El Canal del Futbol.
“The club knows I’d like to continue growing, and they understand that.
“I’ve spoken with them, and they’ve given me the freedom to make a decision and see what is on the table.”

Edit: just seen the quote was in the Argus on June 11th. Finger on the pulse. If their site didn't make everything unreadable, I’d be more up to date!

Would explain our persistence in trying for Cuiabano. Adios then. If Estupinan doesn't want to be here anymore, he'll have to be sold. I have every confidence that the club will turn in a decent profit on him. But for me, he's in danger of suffering from delusions of grandeur. Yes there have been rumours about Man United but I can't see many big clubs coming in for him. He's rarely hit the form since the first De Zerbi season.

I thought Milner was being groomed to be his long term replacement 😁

He might just want another experience in another league, to "grow" as a human. I'm happy to let him go, he has the control of a wizard but also can be caught out from time to time.
