Oliver Arblaster?

Has David Weir started recruiting players based on the collected works of Charles Dickens?

Who next? Nathaniel Backstick? Jeremiah Flatback-Phaw?

Good shout. I'm thinking Oliver Arblaster would be an earnest young farmer searching for a wife and twenty shillings with which to acquire more pigs, in whichever order.

We'd also have to go after James Ward-Prowse Esq (peevish editor of the Chatham & Rochester Chronicle), and master Harvey Elliott (simpleton apprentice to the village blacksmith).
‘Jack Hinshelwood’ is more Dickensian than those.

The chirpy, ever-smiling delivery boy for the local baker: bicycling around town with a jaunty whistle and a basket full of freshly baked cottage loaves. And socks which are always falling down.

Not like his grandad……’Old Blind Jack’ who could scare you half to death on your way back from The Tavern.
