The same article also says ''The situation has alerted other clubs but It is not clear whether Brighton would be willing to sell at this stage, as they see him as a player that would contribute significantly next season.''

Sounds like a journalist just creating fictional content with a hypothetic transfer.

Romano has also linked him with a move as well and subsequently deleted it. It's all a bit strange. He did get a good assist v Liverpool in amongst the mediocrity

A loan to a lower level PL team would seem a sensible idea - or to upper level Championship; see if he can hack it in England. Decent offer from Everton - get our money back, or a bit more, would be well worth considering. We can't expect a 3 or 4 hundred % mark-up on all our not quite so successful deals.
He’s 24, a loan would be a complete waste of time

Or an agent wanting a discussion with the club.

This is what it is I suspect.

This was a big move for Matt he came from a massive club to us in the prime of his career and I suspect the expectation was that he would be a superstar here.

Saying all that, Matt seems a humble, sensible pro.

I don’t think O’Riley really has the physical requirements for the pace and intensity now needed for the PL - if he were 5 years younger, I’d say a loan to a Championship side would be a good option to see if he can improve.

FH has given him a really good crack and I can understand why - his short passing is very good and he is composed on the ball but imo he doesn’t get involved enough. Seems to spend a lot of time directing play around him and trots around continuously looking busy but I’ve rarely seen any real burst of energy or exciting acceleration from him or a good sliding tackle and I’ve noted that other players often don’t pass to him if there’s another option.

He is just not aggressive enough, slow in tracking back to defend, and lacking awareness of danger.

That said, I think he can make an impact off the bench and is a useful back up squad player but for me, Ayari, Gomez, Rutter, Gruda (and probably Buonanotte) all start before him.

Agree. The original tweet came from that Fabrizio guy who has said, quite openly, agents and players use him to put noise and messages out there.

Superstar at Celtic doesn't equate to superstar in the top half of the PL, and that's really the be-all and end-all of it.

So, a guy that the club had pursued for over a year before he signed (according to this thread) suffered a bad injury minutes into his debut. On his comeback from the injury, he made good progress (although clearly not as fast as some fans would like) and made key contributions (including an assist and a stonking penalty – something that might be needed if Joao Pedro facks off) in the last few games of the season – and now he is going to be shipped out?

Nah, not for me, Clive. There's a decent player in there and I think he will be a good option next season. We've seen this 'player needs time to settle in' before COUNTLESS times. Let's not write him off JUST yet, eh?

I agree . . . That's sense . . . . . Unlike zebedee's full on attention seeking horse-shit waffle.

Are you confusing him with WBG?

This. Very decent player who was fvcked last season by a thug. Seems to have the knack of goals/assists at the right time.
