Very common these days, circa 5 years ago outside what was The Escape Club after losing a fight a bloke got his car and drove into a crowd. Also several incidents of late where the driver has driven a car into nightclub door staff after not being allowed in. US states now treat this as assault or murder with a deadly weopon.

Even further back about twenty years ago I saw two people fighting and then one of them got in his car and drove into the other person. Thankfully he was ok.
Like knives, cars do seem to be becoming more and more of a weapon of choice. I'll never understand some people.

This seems to be happening more and more nowadays. Hopefully, this was just an accident.

"Police have said it is understood that the suspect and the four injured people had all been in attendance at a private event nearby prior to the collision.

A 31-year-old man, from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the collision.

He remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives".

Doesn't seem like an accident to me.

As I clearly said, I hope it was an accident.

Is it more common or is it just reported more?

Are you likening this incident to anything in particular? The circumstances seem very different to the incident in Liverpool.
I'm not saying they were the same, simply that more and more frequently cars seem to be used as weapons.

They really aren’t. At least, not in the UK.

I submitted an FOI request to the Home Office yesterday for information on the scale of knife crime incidents and use of vehicles as a weapon over each of the past 5 years by geographical area. I would imagine the response will be along the lines of "we don't collect such data" or "it would involve a disproportionate cost to provide such data" but we'll see.

What are you hoping to prove by asking for it by geographical area?
