Just proves mother nature will never be beaten
I was under the impression that it is because we have beaten it (unintentionally) that we get climate change events like this.

Was within the area week before. Sleeping in Campervan at Crans Montana, walking on the snow line and swimming in lakes in the Rhone Valley. The pass out was shut and had to put van on a train underneath it.
Swiss evacuated the village days before. Shrinking glaciers believed to be the problem as their weight loss stops holding the scree and moraine beneath.
Very peaceful when we were there.

Certainly a beautiful area - I was there many years ago. Tragic for the village but very well done the authorities for the evacuation.
