Great memories however one of my worse ones was queueing up and around Queens Road to buy tickets. I think I queued for close on 7 hours only for a friend to tell me he had gone to Withdean and only waited 2 hours ! If my memory serves me right the tickets were on sale in the old Virgin Records shop ? We might complain about online ticket sales now but it is such an improvement on then.

(IIRC) they went on sale on the Saturday, I was at a BBQ well pissed, it was the day Millwall were on the cup final.
Based on memories of 1991 I was just gonna “pop down in the week”
@The Lemming Stomper rang me that afternoon and told me they’d already sold about 20,000
So in a panic and a hungover state I got down the shop about 3 hours before opening Sunday and was one of the first in the queue, just behind “Jason from Lewes”
On opening, a flash of the passport and I bought 10 (how times change)
We secured a minibus, one of the lads was happy to drive, Bobs yer Uncle.

One of the best days 😊

I stayed with the now wife down near the marina/harbour area (can’t rmemeber what it is called down there) but a relatively short walk to the ground (which is in such a brilliant location). After the game we went back to the hotel and were having a beer when a Bristol city came over and asked if he and his wife could join us and they seemed nice so we said yes. He ordered a bottle of champagne and four glasses and said “if you can’t beat them. Join them” and we had a nice evening.

Went to that game with my brother we queued for hours getting the ticket. It was the last time I saw him, I went on holiday a week after the match and got a call a few days later from my sister in law saying that he had taken his own life. I have never felt so completely devastated in my life. As much as we enjoyed the day, rather then looking back at the good time we had, I keep wondering if I missed something or could have done something or said something instead I was just so wrapped up in us winning promotion.

I queued at Withdean and it took a lot longer than 2 hours. Not sure what time we arrived but I remember missing the Cup Final because it took so long. The tickets were being sold from the South Stand entrance area and the queue snaked around the car park and out onto Tongdean Lane.

Crikey that’s such a sad story, so sorry to read it after all the talk of such an uplifting day.

Went down with Mrs SS + 2 x Miss SS.
Great day!!
We all went to a pub in Cardiff after for some grub. Had to pop to the car in the pub car park and as I walked alone, in colours, a group of Cardiff approached and I thought I was about to get a right shoeing.
"You Brighton?" one asked.
"Yeah." I said, and prepared for the worst.
He paused, then said "thanks for beating the Bristol scum!", and they went on there way ...

An enjoyable weekend in Bristol with a train journey to Cardiff and back in between.

Shame about the game itself, though we got the job done. As others have mentioned, it was great to be amongst a sea of blue and white. The long queue for tickets was well worth it in the end.
