Brighton factually.....
Both of these are in August

Saturday 2nd August - Southampton - Away @ The Dell

Saturday 9th August - Wolfsburg - Home

A bit underwhelming to be honest, I guess it is a chance for some of the fringe players to strut their stuff and try and impress.
I would love to see us play FC St Pauli sometime in the future.

(I love edit options)

These next friendly's (sic) could be season-defining. These are a good sides.

Wolfsburg are a mid table Bundesliga club, a good test for a mid table prem league club the week before the season starts. .

Its hard to see what clubs would count as impressive for some these days. We are used to some of the biggest clubs in the world rocking up every other week and getting beaten (them not us). The cost of bringing Real Madrid or PSG to the Amex would be enormous and would they bring their first teams? . IMO It is meant to be a hard match to test where the first team squad is at, against opposition that is broadly comparable to what we can expect week in week out . I would love to see us go up against PSG, Real Madrid, or one of the other massive clubs but its unlikely they would want us the final game before the season anyway and cost would be prohibitive

Bit of a stretch but I wonder if this means we’re signing Wimmer. I remember we hosted Getafe a couple of weeks before signing Cucurella and Wolfsburg does seem like a bit of a random team to play.

It is not that we want the Barcelonas and Real Madrids of this world but when we are not on global tour, there are other more interesting options. Leverkusen, USG, Strasbourg, Celtic to name just a few..
