Stokes is a useless tosser, Zim won the toss and have inserted.

The last time Zimbabwe and England played each other (2007) Stuart Broad hadn't made his Test debut.

Glad we're playing Zimbabwe at home. Though I understand we're not doing it out of charity. Lesser test nations need big games. I hope they do well, but admit I do fear for them a bit

I thought the last time was 2003. Seem to remember James Kirtley playing and taking a few. Possibly Jimmy's debut as well.

Crawley may get some runs here, so that will cement his place for another couple of years.

2003 was the last Test Match, 2007 a World Cup T20 in Cape Town.

I saw England v Zimbabwe in an ODI in Cape Town around 2000 from memory?

Would be good to get them back to playing at a decent level, I seem to recall that game was very close and I know we lost a few times to them in ODIs at least in that era.

Edit - it wasn’t close at all, just checked and they walloped us by 107 runs, Jan 28, 2000. I must have blanked it out from my memory!

I saw them later that year at Lord's in a one day triangular tournament final where England won comfortably. They beat India and South Africa the year before though in the 1999 world cup here to qualify for the Super 6 stage ahead of England. They had a good side back then.

This next one-off Test could be series-defining. These are a good side.
