You were sublime, magnificent, positively balletic when you came on as sub.

Your first touch is the stuff of dreams. Once again, Liverpool FC bow to the Emperor of Japan (as, quite frankly, we all should).

Many happy returns on your 28th birthday. Never leave us, please 🙏

He did a lot of special things in his 20 minute cameo. A personal highlight was when the ball was flying out for a throw in and he somehow managed to pluck it out the air, on the touchline, and render it under complete control. World class.
It's like he's got superglue on his boots, just sticks to them 3 feet off the ground.

He's creating a legitimate role as an impact substitute.
By the time he arrives around 62 minutes, the opposition are tiring, some opposition players are on yellow cards, and no one can handle him.

It's almost as if it's better to have Kaoru in Super Mario mode for 30 minutes, than just normal mode for 90 mins.
What a luxury to have

The Japanese lady with a flag near me was FREAKING OUT. I was being nosey about her enthusiastic texting and now I’m curious, how does it work with Japanese characters? Anyway he is absolutely off the scale brilliant, one of our all time greats.

Thing is, like watching his goal vs Chelsea, no replay ever does justice to the fact that he does these things in real time.

That control of his on the sideline last night gave me that same rather unsettling feeling as when you see conjuring tricks done well close up: hang on…are the fundamental laws of physics actually not what I’ve been experiencing all these years? Can a man really control a ball with his feet better than most could ever catch it with their hands? Oh and then there’s his goal too.

He’s a magician. Superhuman.

Right in front of where we sit……astonishing control 😳

Find that a little empty, almost patronising. From United and Spurs only Fernandes comes close. He’s clearly technically better than at least 50% of the other squads players. He’s also just better full stop than probably at least 50% of all the players in the ‘big six’. Beyond that the idea that there isn’t countless players previously and currently playing for other teams without supreme technical qualities is ludicrous. Le Tissier and Okacha would be the most technically gifted players in the league if they were playing now.
