really want to go nuclear against these f**kers. Block/seize every ship in the baltic, seal off Kalinigrad and squeeze the fascist bunker midget until he gets the message.

Absolutely agree with that (except the ‘go nuclear’ bit 😁) The west’s / NATO’s dominance of the Baltic surely provides an ideal opportunity to blockade it - even if it goes against international law
He's so articulate. And a real hero for bravely fighting Putins corruption for years 👏
yes he must have been on a Kremlin hit list for some time now - he was instrumental in getting the US and other countries to pass the Magnitski act (which introduced some of the first sanctions against Russian state officials) and that’s going back a few years. Brave man

Big day in Romania today as second round vote takes place. The unheard of Russian Puppet, and ex football hooligan Georgi Simion who won first round, snd wants closer ties to Putin, but he has tanked in last 2 weeks, skipped public debates and last polling showed him 4 points behind the pro EU candidate and Phd in Maths Nicusor Dan.

Polymarket had Dan ahead...... but surprise surprise

Finland (population 5.6 million) has had to live next door to Russia for, well, what must seem like forever.
Here are the views of Alexander Stubb, Finnish president.

Following on from this post, I'm watching Scandinavia with Simon Reeve.

He began in Svarlbard, where Russia is building bases and was unwilling to let him film much.

Then he spent time with the Finnish military, and he found that Finland has a reserve military of 900,000 and has more artillery than any other nation in Europe.
No need to tell you the reason.

What is crazy, is that us laymen on here have known the above to be true for 2+ years. He is an imperialist determined to rebuild the Russian empire at any cost, and for all of his statements, he won't actually stop willingly unless he is forcibly stopped.

So why do western leaders with the best intelligence services still go along with this ridiculous dance, pretending there is a pragmatic leader who can be tamed by dialogue?

Do you want to enter a race to see who can make the most effective threats?

Perhaps it is something to do with a sense of doing the right thing. Retaining the moral upper ground, trying to tame him by persuasion and not command. And maybe a belief in the human spirit - that ordinary Russians must and will rise up and control their own destiny.

I think we should carry on the way we have done. Manage Trump carefully, showing consistency, integrity and unity in Europe. And crank up the sanctions. The ghost fleet shows that they do work, not that they don't. Of course, as the options for Putin narrow, expect unpredictability, threat, and danger. Putin has survived for 25 years through fear. He doesn't know how to work any other way.

Having said that, if Putin is stalling for time (which we know is what he is doing), then what does he think is going to happen that will change things on the military and economic fronts? I confess I'm struggling with this one....
We'll never know for sure.

But the most likely outcome imho is that he is now in too deep and effectively cornered.

He simply cannot go back or sue for peace, as to do so would severely threaten him personally and his dictatorship. All those angry service people, all the deaths and stories from the frontlines, all the internal questions, the f***ed up, heavily sanctioned economy relying on the war to survive.

Trying to carry on being perceived as less personally risky and with a chance his imperialist objectives may still get fulfilled.

To stop is to end his empire fantasies and face a raft of internal problems.

He won't stop because he can't. He'll keep giving it the billy big bollocks until the end, as to show anything else is weakness and a threat to him.

And thus why all this nonsense about negotiations with him is a total waste of time.

The west must use every conceivable lever to ruin Putin and clip Russias wings and stop kicking the can.

easy one, he's not really stalling, he's simply ignoring the west. in his hubris he thinks he can still "win" and take at least the regions east of the Dnipro.

Exactly, he believes if enough bodies and bombs/drones are thrown at the front line Ukrainian defences will collapse and they will have no choice but surrender.

We have to make sure Ukraine has the armaments, intelligence and funds to stop them. If we give them enough could they even start pushing the orcs back?
