I miss footballers who played county cricket, which was possible when there was a gap between the seasons. There used to be quite a few scattered around the country but there haven't been for a few decades. I think that the last league footballer who played county cricket was Joe Gatting, but he'd left football behind (or at least, the FL) when he played for Sussex. I don't know the last person to play both in the same year was - possibly Phil Neale or Ian Botham.
I don't know if he was the last (and accepted it isn't in the County Championship), but ANDY GORAM played first class cricket for Scotland in 1991 while playing at Rangers.

He's a serial troll who's never posted a single positive paragraph and revels in the current fad for shitstalga,
I don't think he is a troll. I think he's just an utterly miserable old man. And has been like it for years. I remember him moaning about our style of play under Poyet. GET IT FORWARD!

I really really hate International breaks and they always seem to come around when we are flying and we start again afterwards by crashing. This could be just me thinking this and not in any way true btw
Oh, it definitely seems that way!

You don't like a lot of things though, really, do you?

IIRC you're not a fan of dry weather, Thursday night European football, modern fuel tanks, the modern numbering system for midfielders, players breaking their Ramadan fast, Last One Laughing, mental health problems, playing out from the back, home games on Boxing Day, Khan, "pro-gay campaigns", boxing, dog ice cream and immigrants.

Don't worry, Reform will be in charge soon as we can all head gloriously back to 1958. The First Division will be in full flow, the dug up remains of Adrian Thorne will be upfront for the Albion in the regionalised Third Division and the season will stop just in time for tea.
There's a term for this Down Under: "whinging Pom"

I don’t agree with anything goldstone says, but here I kind of agree. It should be over by now.

All caused by the TV companies constant demand for "product". The World Club bollocks this summer feels like the straw that may break the camel's back to me. Really hope it crashes and burns. Be interesting to see what impact it has on City and Chelsea next season.

It's not just football either. The Tennis players unions are kicking off about the number of Tournaments they are expected to play.

The reported increase in the number of injuries in football recently is surely not a coincidence.

In the Times, serial whinger Martin Samuel.says the PL is a bit shit now anyway. El Classico, 8 goal thriller, Mbappe...errr financial fair play.....

That blokes at least consistently a bell.
Is he wrong?

Past couple of years it's been a bit meh

Teams playing pretty much the same way, and side to side football, with the odd exception.

Even city with their dominance haven't really been an exciting watch most the time.

I think it's still a good watch compared with La Liga, Serie A etc. I would prefer the title and relegation spots to be decided on the last day, but you can't have everything. What Samuel wants is unlimited spending, which I don't agree with.
