It would be good to watch with my 8 year old but he isn’t interested and none of his class are either. Scripts have been awful, just want some scary monsters, hiding behind the sofa kind of stuff and the Doctor defeating them, it doesn’t need a big budget just some decent stories but it has lost its way.

I stopped watching when Jodie Whitaker took on the role. I’m not a fan of her. I tried a few episodes but thought they were quite poor.

To the wider board;

What’s the new guy like? New episodes any good? Worth a peek?

To go against the grain, I gave an episode a go hoping I'd be pleasantly surprised. i wasn't. The new assistant is one of the most annoying of all time and the shoe horning in of social commentary above story telling is eye rollingly bad. They are obsessed with it. It's a shame as we've seen some great Moffat and RTD episodes in the past but we are miles away from that quality.

I can't get on with Ncuti either. He's scared of his own shadow. I appreciate each doctor has their own take on it but he hasn't got a huge amount of gravitas for the part.. Capaldi for instance was clearly a fan and had his own ideas. It wouldn't surprise me if Gatwa hadn't ever seen an episode.

There's a reason why they want to pause it and it has low viewing figures. It's lost its way. Stick Andor on for some quality Sci fi instead

I'm glad this thread has popped up again. Thanks to The Doctor (@Harry Wilson's tackle ).

The current season is one of the best I've seen and I've watched since Pertwee's era.

Tonight's episode was a beautifully subtle takedown of right wing grifting arseholes and conspiracy theorists in general.

Ncuti Gatwa is (as has been mentioned) an absolute star, and after a patchy 1st season, is absolutely killing it this time round.

It's a shame the Disney+ deal seems to be ending, and season 3 is not yet green lot, and it seems increasingly likely that Ncuti is leaving as a result.
