Let’s not forget Ayari could barely buy game time in The Championship last season and has proven a decent prem player. You do question who is deciding on these loans though? Stoke are miles away from the football we are looking to play, in fact not many champ sides are going to suit the profile of kids we buy. You’d think European mid leagues would be much more suitable.

I still think there's a lot of merit in these loans. JPVH developed so well at Blackburn alongside the likes of Wharton. Ayari similarly absolutely bossed his appearance in their fixture in the cup against Newcastle last season (https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/24150486.brightons-yasin-ayari-impresses-blackburn-rovers/) and nearly helped a really weak Blackburn side through (they lost on pens, Ayari scored his). There's so many things to be learned on a loan, not all of which can be reduced to appearances in a similar strategic set-up. Understanding the grass elsewhere may not be greener elsewhere is also another massive byproduct that I'm hoping will help us to retain the likes of Buonanotte next season
