I don't feel sorry for him. Not really. Even if I did take out a small onion while watching his post match pressa.
But on the foolishness scale, he's no Sebastian I of Portugal, either.
I think many people ‘feeling sorry’ for the state Potter is in (as evidenced by that presser), are probably feeling so on a very basic human level. Same way we might feel ‘sorry’ for people we don’t know, in a rather dispassionate way, who for whatever other reason, are struggling in life. It’s all relative isn’t it - 1st world problems and all that. 🤷‍♂️

He may not reach the dysfunctional levels of self-sabotage that a certain world leader is achieving but he certainly hasn’t helped himself in how he has presented himself in pressers and interviews/in the media or the career choices he’s made.

I'd find it easier to be sympathetic if he ever once seemed as upset in a defeat when he was our manager. He's obviously in a poorer run of results at the moment, but compare that angry desperate individual with this one whose team had just battered Man Utd and been robbed of a point post the final whistle by a referee determined to keep playing injury time until they got an opportunity.

Looks a lot younger, seems more relaxed that a much better performance went without reward. It's almost as if he thought he had a "nice easy life" at Brighton.

Some of our fans showed the same kind of despair he showed in Saturday's press conference after a 0-0 draw against Leeds, the ninth winless game in a run that I seem to remember ended up being thirteen games, or nearly twice the length of WH's current run. Mr Emotional Intelligence's response was pretty much to tell them that, as Brighton fans, they shouldn't be expecting any better. That knowledge makes it a bit easier to watch his passive aggressive performance and think that maybe he can now appreciate that, at that moment, those fans might not have felt like looking at the positives.

The dull part of the south coast
Did a good job for us.

Get the initial hatred, but now he’s just another manager for me.
This continued faux hatred for the man is all a bit contrived. Potter left nearly three years ago FFS! Get over it. Does anyone have a go and insult Alan Mullery - after all he went and managed Palace? The answer is no, of course. The same applies to Glenn Murray.

One of the advantages a human brain has over its competitors (soon to include AI 🤨) I believe, is the capacity to think or realise an emotion whilst simultaneously experiencing an apparently opposite thought or feeling. Hence one can be convinced that Potter is the author of his own downfall which may lead to a lack of sympathy, while also feeling sorry for the shell of a man that we saw presented in interviews on Saturday after he'd had his derriere handed to him on a plate. He looks as though we broke him. Twice.

I wonder who actually hates him? I am unsure in that I haven't seen evidence of that. Only schadenfreude which by most tokens is well-merited.

The look of a man that’s promised his family that they’ll never relocate again knowing his local premier league opportunities are close to running out.

He’ll be gawn by October and imagine him taking up a part time international job assuming the country of origin is served by London Gatwick

Unlike the vast majority on here, I still really like Potter - I'm grateful for what he did here, and consider him one of the most important people in our recent history... I would love him back one day (and would have preferred him here rather than Hurzeler).

However... I do not feel sorry for him here. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing, he's playing the press and giving fans a response that he thinks they'll appreciate... and it's f***ing hilarious.

Crawley Town would be a nice short commute.

I have a recurring nightmare that he'll end up at Palace one day and do really well there. Shudder.

Agreed. He’s playing to the fans there IMHO.

I reckon he’s been told that at times he’s controlled his emotions too much, so he’s gone all in on the emotional rant.

Of course he could be falling apart but I don’t think so.

Firstly I don't hate the man, secondly, my dislike for him is far from contrived. All the whatabout examples have one glaring omission, those people didn't f*** us over at the start of the season, just as all the years of patience and trust we had placed in them was starting to pay dividends.

As for contrived, I can't think of a better example than the M23 derby, especially as the primary cause of the "hatred" went on to manage Palace, clearly he thought the whole thing a tad overblown
