It felt like your post was dismissing the needs of 700,000 people on the basis that it's a small percentage of the population. I merely wanted to point out that a small percentage of a huge number can still be a huge number.

As for the debate itself, it's an issue with huge amounts of nuance, and I tend to think that anyone taking a binary position on it (with apologies for the pun) is probably wrong, no matter which side of the argument they are on.

Well, bearing in mind this is only based on my own experience from a personal and to some degree professional point of view. And I’m hurtling towards 50 at a disconcerting rate, with no children of my own.

However, I came of age in the 90’s and from a social interaction standpoint, things seemed a lot more fun for men and women. Yes, you had Loaded culture and that side of things but on the ground sex, socialising and interaction between men and women seemed fun and there was a sense that everyone was enjoying themselves equally.

The workplace and institutional aspect in the 90’s was probably far worse than it is today and there is some evidence to suggest things have improved for women and LGBTQ + people in recent years in that respect.

I would think the Internet and the rise of figures like Andrew Tate have had a significant impact on attitudes and these attitudes seem very hostile towards women regarding sex, dating and to a degree, socialising.

As I say, this is my experience and I have had lots of professional interaction regarding vulnerable people in the night time economy in the last decade.

I don’t like the environment of a city centre these days but that’s probably a lot to do with age.

These are just my musings but I think there is something in it.

I see it as a step on the road to forcing trans women back into mens bathrooms which will not be a safe place for us given it increases the risk of sexual assault. Now is any policy like that enforcable without serious breaches of privacy no, will that stop people taking matters into their own hands no. When there are members of the anti-trans brigades like Kelly-Jay Keen suggesting armed men enter womens bathrooms to protect against trans women who just want to f***ing pee, I know not everyone will listen and do that but it just takes one nutter.

As for the thin end of the wedge I just look at the US, where the funding for a lot of these groups comes from, and I can see these moving to go further given what is currently occuring in the US and the harm Wes Streeting is enacting on trans youths with the upholding of the puberty blocker ban only for trans youths until they are 18 (at which point the changes of puberty are done) whilst still allowing them for cis children going through precoscious puberty citing a lack of evidence as to the harms, I'll tell you now these medicines have been used for this for 30 years if there was a negitive effect we would have seen it by now.

Sorry this kind of got away from me but understandably this is a sensitive topic.

TL;DR I think the ruling will be willfully misinterpetted by some to cause harm, and this will spur on those who want to inflict legal harm on trans people to continue to push for things of that nature.

I will add, and it won’t be popular but the proliferation of specific foreign cultures in U.K. society has had a negative impact on attitudes to women and the LGBTQ community .

It’s by no means the only cause but it’s more significant than many people care to admit. Or face.

No, you're born a boy, or you're born a girl, but that does not automatically determine what they will be(come) in adulthood.

It is a hugely nuanced and confusing subject for most people.

There are causes and effects that I don’t understand. The biological/ science aspect baffles me. My factory setting is fairly binary so these things will inevitably confuse me. There’s feelings and emotions involved that I can’t understand.

However, the one thing I try to default to is;
Treat others as you would want to be treated and be kind. Just be kind.

Nobody understands anybody’s anything .

This news has had the expected affect of winding up Twitter into an absolute cesspit of trans hate. It really is disgraceful the amount of transphobic comments on that toxic site.

The celebratory and wrongful assumptions are profound with the worst offenders proclaiming that biological men will have to stick to their own toilets and changing rooms, not realising that that logic requires the opposite to be true.

So I do wonder what the reaction of those radical feminists with the champagne would be if this lot rolled into their 'women only' spaces:

Even ancient tribes had men who opted out of masculine life and kept camp with the females. And women who took up the spear and joined the men for hunts.

It didn’t go to court because nobody gave a f***. If you were that way, you were that way.

The world’s always been f***ing nuts. It’s just that now people care too much about what other people do.
