Down to 10th, with Palace on our heels.

Albeit a point further away than before Saturday.
And one fewer game in which to catch us.

I hate to say it - but it looks as though I'll have to be cheering on teams I wouldn't normally be in the next few weeks.

I know it will need a big improvement from us but does 8th get Europe if Newcastle make the top 5 and Forest or City win the FA cup (and finish top 5)?
Gawd knows! - there's so many permutations I haven't a clue! ............................but since you ask, probably not (I think)!

If Newcastle and the FA Cup winners finish in the top 6 (now we are guaranteed the extra CL spot) then 8th would get the Conference League spot.

It’s technically possible that 11 teams could get Europe, if Villa win Champions League and Man U win Europa. Though we all know we’d still f*** it up and finish 12th

Bournemouth winning result is ok. Our odds finishing 8th lowered as a result.

Looks like 57 points should be enough, 58 certainly enough. 6 points from next 3 otherwise season over.

I am very much in the “It is what it is“ camp now. I refuse to go into any of the remaining games expecting anything other than capitulation. We are getting rather good at it. Hope I end up being surprised. No idea how many key injuries Fulham and Bournemouth have but they both seem more capable than us of finishing the season well imo. Both would have blown Leicester away in a home game that really mattered.

Mid table will not be a bad end result with a rookie manager who seems incapable of changing in game play and an injury crisis all season.

Signing defenders with pace in the summer window is critical given the decline of Dunk, the injury records of Webster, Ferdi, Lamptey and Veltman and the confusing and pointless looking signing of Cashin.

Both Bournemouth and Fulham have practically a full squad.

Fulham & Bournemouth Both have to play Villa and City
Fulham have Chelsea and Bournemouth play Arsenal

We still have Liverpool & Newcastle to play.

Arguably we have the easier run in, not that the quality of the opposition matters that much

This. Our squad is too injury hit now to get excited or expect too much. The last two performances and results have showed this.

We should be aiming to maintain a top 10 finish. It will take some incredible effort to get top 8 IMO. I hope the last few games are good performances so we end positively.

If they continue to serve up the passive rubbish like the last two, and fall out of that top 10, that will be dissapointing.

yeah this.

I am however expecting to be disappointed.
I don't think the players believe they can achieve anything.

Without researching in any detail, my perception is that Fulham and B'mth (and Brentford and Palace) have much more stable squads than we have, not big changes from season to season; they sell a little, buy a little (cannily). They certainly haven't tried to shoehorn in eight new players to their first team squad this season, like we have.

All three of us (Us, Fulham and B'mth) are stuttering a bit; no chance of scientifically predicting who will come out on top. Momentum slightly with B'mth, but only because they were the only winners this weekend.

Yeah agree with this in principle.

If Huerzeler can re-energise the squad for the final push, we have a chance.
But after the weekend, it's hard to believe that is a likely outcome.

Will feel differently on Saturday morning though.

Well this is the issue - we have Christie out for the rest of the season, which is a massive loss - and with Kluivert out too we're not the same team as the press just isn't as good.

So although it's just a couple of players, this injury situation is although smaller in numbers, more impactful than the much more publicised injury crisis earlier in the season (which was just Evanilson & Unal out and Cook filling in and right back and Outarra up front).

As ever, it's not how many, it's the quality of the players missing and their importance to the team.

So I fear Palace may be closer to both of us come 5pm Saturday night.....

Villa, City & Arsenal to play - So I don't think Europe will be happening.

Don't like the idea of kudos running thru our midfield and wingbacks when we play West sham, they looked half decent against Liverpool and we are more than half shit.
