RIP Clem. Saw him do the most amazing thing I've ever seen a drummer do, at a Blondie gig at Hammersmith Odeon, maybe 1979 or something. Whacked his drumstick off his snare drum in such a way that it sent it spinning about 20 foot into the air. Caught it on the way back down without missing so much as a beat. Astounding skills
Saw Keith Moon do this. 1971. Took a swig from a water(??) bottle too!

No RIP thread for Clem Burke?!

Well, there is now. RIP.

There's a certain mix of Heart Of Glass that ends with a long run of astounding drum fills from Clem. I remember replaying them over and over, each one a work of art in itself.

Clem was on the drums for my first ever gig, Eurythmics at Christchuch NZ Town Hall in 1986, and also one of my more recent ones, Blondie at the Piece Hall, Halifax last year.

Bit of a shock to hear he's gone, he never seemed to age.

Was there too - it was an extraordinary impactful moment. Such a tight band, and Clem was key I always thought. So sad, so young, RIP Clem and thank you for what you gave to music and to my youth and beyond.
