I thought the original on-field decision was correct.

From the replays, which I have watched a fair bit, it’s clear Mitoma completely misses both player and ball as he slides in….BUT his trailing arm which is behind him does hook the Forest player’s foot. This is quite clear. I’d say technically it’s still a foul. I’d really like to hear why the referee decided it wasn’t and what changed his mind.

The player hanged his foot there to be caught, no penalty in my view

I’ve watched it several times - seems as if the foot went to Mitoma to create contact if that makes sense. His leg changes direction or extends to ensure that he makes contact with Mitoma.

Not saying it not a penalty. Just that it wasn’t clear and obvious that Mitoma ‘took him out’

The Forest player appears to initiate the contact with Mitoma by moving his foot towards the arm. That appears to be why the ref overturned his original decision.

It was not a penalty. The Forest player slid his leg towards Mitoma to make it look like it was a foul. He should have been booked for trying to deceive the referee.

No it wasn't though it wasn't clear and obvious so technically should have stood shouldn't it?

The player initiated the contact by throwing his leg out towards Mitoma. Luckily Mitoma slid across rather than into the Forest player and even by stretching his leg as far as he could, he only stood on Mitoma's arm. No pen

Controversially, I don't think the Forest player "moved his leg towards Mitoma", I think the Forest's players studs got caught on Mitoma's sleeve which then kinda dragged him down.

It doesn't matter, no, and I also doubt @Herr Tubthumper is particularly bothered about it.

But it's a talking point from the game, now the dust has settled. You are free to partake in the discussion or move on. Posting an arsey provocative reply isn't a very friendly way to go about things.

I can see the studs/sleeve bit and am not so sure now, but I'll leave my vote where it is mainly because HT thinks otherwise.
