Hindsight is always 20/20 vision. A couple of years ago, if a game hadn't sold out, then the exchange didn't open.
Last season, it seems, the club decided that if you couldn't make a game, it was compulsory to list your ticket regardless of the state of the general sale of tickets. It seems, so others keep typing, the terms and conditions were changed, but honestly, who reads the terms and conditions every year?
A few have been caught out in this and some posters are saying they've had badly worded emails which have upset them. Circumstances do happen and can happen to anyone, so I think the club should've made it very clear last year, that listing tickets when you can't make a game, is now compulsory or else.

I've still not seen any of the emails but I get the strong impression that the tone of the communications needs improving, and needs to be more sympathetic. Earlier in the thread I think I saw some acknowledgement from someone at the club that they realised they needed to approach this differently.

It's not my terms it's an opinion. I think 4 games is too few to be sending mails like the one I got.
The point I raised with my son was firstly they actually got the games missed wrong. Also a little research into the games he has attended in total will reveal he has been to a large number of away games including the early rounds of the cups but also some u21 games. That itself shows commitment, I believe.
Furthermore we as a family have three st's together. My daughter is a teacher in London so midweek games in term time is hard, along with recently becoming a single mum. She fortunately has a good relationship with her ex's parents. My son is his wife's carer and they too have a young child.
We have been st holders for over 26 years (son 20 years).
It was the tone of the email that got my goat. A small amount of research would soon highlight the commitment shown over decades.
What they should do is make people swipe out of the stadium if leaving early. I bet there's far more "regular" leavers that in fact miss far more game minutes than those that miss a few games in total.
To put that into perspective, 4 games is over 20% of the season!

Reading through this thread there are a number of deeply personal and distressing situations where ticket holders have not been able to attend matches. I find it quite uncomfortable, that ticket holders may have to share that level of information with a football club to stop the said club determining that they can now re-sell that seat or seats.
No idea of actual numbers, but just wondering how many of these emails the raw data prompts them to send after a home game. If it’s more than a handful, they’re not going to have the resources to look into the ST’s wider history, hence the (badly worded) generic email ?

Have any actual emails sent by the club been reproduced in this thread? It would be useful to see just how much detail the club is demanding from people otherwise we’re in danger of crucifying them unjustly. Could someone share an actual email received? Thanks.

I'd like to see the email too, however I am aware of 2 ticket holders who have provided personal medical information prior to these T&C's now being enforced, I questioned them as to why they shared such personal information to the club - "because we thought we had too"

On the flip side of the coin, I know of a few examples where fans choosing to share their specific medical conditions with the club have resulted in a really empathetic and practical response. For example, a friend of my parents had a STH in the West Upper but was diagnosed with MND in the autumn. I have looked at this and previous seasons my son has missed 7 games in 12 years. He has missed 3 not 4 this season.
Pretty much zero chance this would be checked before sending the email to potentially loads of STHs. But then this year I’ve only attended 3 home matches, although far more away games, and I’m an Albion+ Member anyway, I was offered the chance to buy a Season Ticket, for next season. I already know that probably 75% of those home games will be put on the Exchange. I was a Season Ticket holder until Covid kicked in and made travel arrangements difficult (and they still can be).
So presumably, as long as you put your ticket on the Exchange it shouldn’t be an issue?

I assumed it was a standard mail merge, with generic wording complimented by a small number of fan unique data points (name, fan number, and number of games missed) taken from the clubs database. The fact the number of games missed is incorrect for some suggests the mistake was taken earlier than when the letter was produced automatically.
Working in FS the amount of drafts I see on customer comms is significant as we known there will always be people that don’t like the content so the tone needs to be spot on, particularity in the current environment.
It is a threat though and if indeed they feel the need to indicate this as such, they should review the st holders commitment over the period of time being a st holder. If there's been a pattern over a number of seasons then there's an issue.
If they take issue with an empty stadium they need to shut the exits before the end of the game. My family and I have never left before the final whistle.
I phoned the club explaining that for some reason, when I can't go, I'm unable to list his ticket.
Even though I pay for it and it's effectively mine. Hes 14.
They immediately reversed it and changed my account settings so I can list his when I cant go.
We have been to over 5. The bold bit was a bit odd. I didn't receive anything regarding my own ticket. And we never recieved 5 emails.
Sorted now though.
