True, that...

I have been to a few sporting events in the USA and the worst was baseball in Detroit against the Yankees...
national anthem comes on, everyone stood up, hand over heart and sang the national anthem....

Not me, I stood out of respect, but the glares I got for not putting my hand over my heart and belting out the national anthem, if looks could kill. The father in law had to tell folks around us "Sorry, He is British, he does not understand"

Imagine sinigang the national anthem before every football game over here, not gonna happen is it.
They do it before every sporting game, it is repellent. I used to just stand there during the anthems at the London NFL games. I now wait on the concourse and take my seat when they are over. It's pathetic in my view.

Could you imagine if it had been the Democrats?

The outrage from the Republicans would have been colossal, so gigantic it would have collapsed in on itself creating a black hole of MAGA rage that consumed all of them right down to their very molecules leaving an asteroid field of red baseball caps that smelt faintly of sweat and stupidity.

As it is though? Nah, a hoax. It's not that deep. Don't worry about it.

Bellends.

That truly would be a black hole made up of the most dense material known to man.

Gods country fortnightly

Here you go.

A handful of billionaires horde more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population and they spend double what Europe does per capita on healthcare to live 4 years less

America is the ultimate example of population that votes against its own interests again and again. Its like Brexit on steriods

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I need a US politics lesson:
If it ever dawns on the Republicans that they've made a colossal mistake, can they remove Trump and still remain in power? For example, could Democrat senators etc meet with Republicans and plan to remove the Trump administration, while leaving some sensible Republicans to run the country?

I looked it up, if Trump is impeached they get Vance :tosser:

I'm just watching the Security Committee grilling Trumps administration following the fully leaked Signal chat, and Gabbard is full on bullshitting.

After yesterday stating that the conversation did not contain classified information, she's now saying "My answer yesterday was based on my recollection or the lack thereof on the details that were posted there, and what was shared today reflects the fact that I was not directly involved with that part of the Signal chat".

Unbelievable lies. She first claimed it wasn't classified, despite it being obvious to all of us that it was (given what the journalist had reported), and now that the full information is out she claims she didn't realise. It's not relevant that she wasn't one of the ones posting the strike details, she still read it. Incredible.

The succession planning in the US is very clear. Realistically, you'd need to impeach dozens of people to come across anyone sane.

Well I know that (he's VP), but Vance could be removed to.

Is it only impeachment that can remove a president, or do they have anything like a vote of no confidence.
It’s the 25th amendment or bust I believe. And they need the VP on board to remove the president.

It is quite staggering it is now all being dismissed as a hoax. wtf? They have literally published the full exchange and if it is all made up then given it is about war plans then that could be treason right? The other defence that none of this is classified is laughable. What counts as classified if military attacks don’t ?
The Orange One's tax affairs - allegedly!

Only impeachment but a bullet in the right place would do the trick as well.

Yes. It would only take a handful of Republicans in the house to join with Democrats to impeach Trump. Then it would only take a few more Republican senators to join Democrats to convict.

Trump would be removed. And we'd have Vance as POTUS. No shift in the balance of power from the POV of the two parties.

For the discerning shopper, I did a little googling - can’t wear one myself as I have American family (who hate Trump btw) but it may interest a few here 🙂

So the mechanism is only impeachment. Presumably they could impeach Vance too?

Do you think there will come a time when the Republicans think that it's better for them and their country to remove Trump?

They could impeach Vance too, but that's even more doubtful. He doesn't have the same heat on him, yet.

If the impeached Vance, who came next would depend on whether or not Vance was able to nominate, and get confirmed a VP of his own first.

Do you think there will come a time when the Republicans think that it's better for them and their country to remove Trump?
Personally, I would have thought that time had passed a long time ago. Back in the first term, for a start. I honestly have no idea which bridge might finally be a bridge too far. They have crossed so many bridges already. And most of them have been left burning.
