Even if that particular post was a delicious parody, it is reflective of a lot of people who were "it won't affect me!" but it WILL. They might not have realised when voting, same with people who voted Brexit not thinking it would have any impact on themselves and then it does. Trump is an absolute catastrophe for the vast, overwhelming majority of the US and the people who voted for him. Whether they know it already or it will take a bit longer, that is the reality. But those people aren't anchored in reality at all.
In a country of 340m where consuption of burgers, pizza and high-fructose corn syryup is massive and approx 9% of the population are morbidly obese, I guarantee that there will be a significant number of real-life people with Type 2 Diabetes that voted to have their faces eaten by leopards.

When the Yanks take over the power plants in Ukraine will they be known as Trump Nuclear ? The mission statement would be "A bigger BANG for your buck".

Heartbreaking.

Rare Turtle that was washed up and rescued in UK was supposed to be released back into the Gulf of Mexico (it’s natural habitat) but is now stuck in captivity as a direct result of Trump gutting conservation organisations and freezing the work they do.

He is such an utter c**t whose policies are directly hurting vulnerable people, wildlife and the environment and he literally doesn’t give a shlt.

I remember as a kid in high school having a text book that had a diagram that, while not a literal horseshoe, had the same kind of diagram, curved around like that. And although the text didn't comment on it (or at least, I didn't see it, but I also probably couldn't be bothered actually reading the text), it did immediately strike me that the tactics of the extreme left and extreme right are almost the same, even if the supposed "justification" for them are different.
Yep.

Interesting survey in the FT yesterday. If this is to be believed, then it looks like Reform might lose quite a few votes. Genuinely makes me wonder what happened 20-40 years ago to make so many of the 25-44 age group receptive to c*ntface. Not much difference between the two main parties and more positive than I would have imagined.

Using the same colour to denote two different options in the data? What sort of imbecile came up with that graphic?

Bizarre, isn't it? I guess that age bracket covers a lot of disenfranchised millennials who feel the status quo failed them. I say that as someone in that bracket who is very much on the other side of the spectrum when it comes to Trump.

Take solace in the fact that across all ages, more hold a negative view than positive. Even a good chunk of the Reformers can see he's a wrongun.

Oh and the Nazis being National Socialists is in no way evidence for the theories. They simply coopted some of the language of socialism for propaganda purposes.
There was a wing of the Nazis which had a more socialist side to it but this was comprehensively defeated by Hitler in 1926. One of the leaders, Gregor Strasser, was murdered in 1934, during The Night of the Long Knives.

I'm no fan of the horseshoe theory. Sure far left and right parties have shared a penchant for authoritarianism and standing out dissent but to suggest they have converging ideologies makes no sense. The goals, motivation and policies are poles apart. IMO the horseshoe theory oversimplifies and is designed to delegitimise radical politics that challenge the status quo (I know that's not your aim @Peteinblack )

TLDR: 🧭 > 🧲
I regard it as a horseshoe of distastefulness.
And indeed the two ends of the horseshoe do not meet.
They simply reside in the same locale, near the horse's arse,
in the shit.

Indeed.
It is form of socialism where to take from the rich (Jews) and give to the poor (middle class Aryans).

Well, exactly. There was no room for socialism in the Nazi party, who were allied to the elites and big business.

Obviously this is terrible and the orange loon is a loon but. . .

But can we also talk about whoever decided to call the Anglesey Sea Zoo the Anglesey Sea Zoo, surely the Anglesey Ocean Zoo would have been preferable?

The fear of "The left" has been prevalent in America for decades, it has been drummed into them every day.

The very first time I went to America about 22 years ago, I could not believe the news, it was all doom, gloom, fear and loathing, with no understanding of the rest of the world, their world view is what they are told, not what they see or learn about first hand.

So the fear of the left is deep rooted, seen as a danger and almost second nature to most Americans especially those poorly educated with just an internal view of America, America, America, no wonder America First and make America great again resonates with so many folk, it is all they are fed everyday.

Also doesn't help that they pledge allegiance to the fecking flag every bloody day of their school/summer camp/where ever life, and sing the national anthem at any given opportunity. Indoctrinated from birth into America First culture

I really can't believe that to be true. 1 in 5 25-44 year olds feel very positive about Trump? In my line of work I deal with a lot of people around that age, and in the sports clubs I play in and groups of friends people are mostly in that age bracket, and from mixed backgrounds. Haven't come across one person who doesn't think Trump is an absolute ****
