I was praising your 2. You do a great competition but I will be travelling across timezones in the second week of the break and suspect at some point I’ll either not post at all or end up posting yesterday’s puzzle tomorrow. So a “no thanks” this time just in case.

Very last call for entrants to the cup competition - we now have 17 confirmed, which will mean 2 players drawn in the preliminary round, before the final 16 draw.

OK, we now have (I believe) 18 players.
So I am taking inspiration from the new Champions League format (which we will hopefully experience next season...
.)
From Tuesday to Sunday every player will play 6 random matches against another player.
3 points for a win, 1 for a draw.
The top 8 teams (points, then score difference, then fewest goes) go through to the quarter finals on Monday (unless there is a tie for 8th place, when a play-off will occur)
Semi Final and Final to take place thereafter, with replays as necessary.
Draw will take place tomorrow.
