Sad but a good innings. Gordon was a good egg and worked tirelessly for the 2nd Brighton scout group. Will always remember his Mutley like laugh. RIP Gordon - make sure you wake up all those angels with that bugal !

30th was in a field behind houses in Vale Avenue in Patcham.
That's it Crispy. Used to play their footie matches on that sloping hill.

We did indeed. The slope was almost as bad as that one on Ditchling Road just south of the golf course which seemed to have a 1:3 gradient!

Yep did two at the Dome in the seventies as well as numerous St George’s Day Parades that ended up there, iirc there was a pre gang show rehearsals night often on the first floor above the boozer near Diwns School in Ditchling Road

The ex Brighton Boy and Ipswich & QPR footballer Steve Palmer use to grace that pitch for the 30th, banged 9 past us (44th) in a final played at Manor Road School.
My brother played cricket with Palmer at Varndean 6th. He could have played first class cricket too (Palmer I mean).

I was in 3rd Haywards Heath from cubs through to Venture scouts. As a cub I remember we used to have an annual trip down to The Done to watch The Gang Show and I used to love it.
Went to school with his sister. Thought it was Watford he played for (after actually going to Uni).

Iirc he’s played football at Wembley for Cambridge & Cricket for Cambridge at Lords, not bad for a lad from Hollingbury, i played alongside him for St Mathias as a Colt

He played for QPR against Brighton at Withdean and lumped BZ , he was very apologetic
She did - talented sporting family but also intelligent. My mum was good friends with their mum.

I was in the 44th as well, but when we used to be in Patcham school, was involved as was my dad in renovating the scout hut you mention (small old factory or warehouse as I recall), which became the 44ths home in 69 or 70. Gordon Stoner of the 2nd was a good friend of our leader Keith Fakes and went with us on a trip to South of France. Fond memories of camping on the beach in the Carmargue

I can’t remember what the number was, but I was a cub & scout at St Saviours Church on Ditching Rd (1975-198?) before they knocked it down. I think we then we moved to a hall by St Augustine’s on Stamford Avenue and then on to Fairlight School by which time I was a Venture Scout and moved on. Me and a Venture buddy could pitch an orange ‘Force 10’ 2 man tent in under 2 minutes blindfold!!
Edit: Just seen @the Large One’s post #5. It was the 56th. I must’ve got the timeline of St Augustine & Fairlight mixed up. We would’ve been there together!

15th Brighton for me. Both my son and daughter were scouts and performed in gang shows though was living in London then.
I suspect I know what you're implying but having spent nearly 25 years with the 2nd Brighton there was never any hint of that.
