Fab just gave an update on Lamptey, on the BBC website via Simon Stone: "Tariq has a bigger issue. He had a bad moment in training and I can't say exactly how long he will be out."

On BBC radio, he said that Solly had a slight hamstring issue but should be back after the international break.
That sounds ominous. Will we see him again this season and if we don't, have we seen his last game for us? For all the good things this season, the number of injuries incurred in training has been a distinct negative and needs a thorough review.

Ghana said a ankle ligament injury I think so will that's probably that for lamptey this season.

I hope not as he’s had a great season and provided valuable options at RB an LB. Is his contract up this summer? I’d be disappointed if we didn’t have an offer on the table.
I’m a fan but I just think that he is injured too much.

I’ll be very sad to see him go as a person and as a player, but as a player, he just can’t get on the pitch enough (due to fitness) to earn a Premier League salary on a long term contract in my opinion.

A new contract, if offered, would be at risk of making him our highest paid player (£s per minute on the pitch) due to his injury record.

I suspect we’ll be seeing a new right back at the club in the summer.

Possibly the opposite? If he's out injured for a while perhaps he's more likely to sign a new contract with us
Yeah possibly. Other teams may also be less likely to take a risk on a player with his injury record if he's currently injured

Interesting article - FH basically accepted there would be an increase in injuries at the start of the season as players adapted to his intensive style of training and play. I guess with the teams' improvement in form and current status it will be deemed to be worth it and the same shouldn't happen next season (for the same reason anyway) - at least to the current squad.

Not surprising given the (imho far more surprising) things we've heard about De Zerbis training sessions being mainly tactical.

Italians seem to believe you can make it work without structured physical conditioning but I thought he was different in that regard, considering the intensity he wants in games.

Changing from that to a Gegenpressing manager with a more coherent approach, where you train mainly to recreate real situations instead of tactical ideas, not surprising some struggle to handle it. Building stamina etc is one thing but making the body adapt to recover quicker after a sprint etc requires a very specific style of training.

Will be interesting to see how it develops over time. Most difficult thing with it, which I think we saw a few seasons with Klopp in Liverpool, is that you can push it too far and burn out the players before the seasons are over.

Are you really trying to blame De Zerbi for our injuries increasing this season, despite RDZ's huge medical team, fewer games and a bigger squad? Come off it.

It's an interesting little article basically explaining we thought it might be bad, but have exceeded even those expectations. It still seems to come to the same conclusion that we're non the wiser about why we've had such rotten luck, possibly why we've just hired another new guy for the summer.

Do you get a notification on your phone every time someone isn't worshipping RDZ?
I've mentioned him in negative contexts twice the last month and both times you've come riding on your white horse to save him from scrutiny.

Maybe you should "come off it".

PLEASE let's not have this thread turning into a pro/anti RDZ debate again. Dear God.

I'm sure there was a chart shared on NSC that showed the correlation between style of play and number of injuries.

Unsurprisingly, pressing sides like ours get more, and countering sides, like Forest, get fewer.

No interest in that either.

He just happens to exist in the context of "we changed manager and training and that could have had an effect on injuries one way or another".

I think he should be scrutinised, but that your theory has fallen flat deserves calling out, but once again you can't admit being wrong.

And yes, in answer to your question, quite literally this forum is set up to notify you when people have replied to threads you've contributed to.
