A discussion on another thread just took me back to this. Haven't played it in a while.
Some of the comments under the vid are interesting, comparing this in a sensible way with the Johnny Cash cover.

"The Johnny Cash version is like someone giving you the song on CD and saying "Don't play this until I've passed away, then you'll understand why I recorded it." The NIN version is like finding a dead body, with this song found on a CD in their bedroom."
Aside from the mix, (just turn up the NIN version and wait till the singing stops - oh my), just one word changes the flavour. Cash:
