I’m presently listening to her last album as I write, im going to make this my go to thread this year regarding new albums, I won’t focus on too many though as less is more at my age.

Although they’re a bit past it, this is “albums 2025” and the only one I’ve listened to is Franz Ferdinand, I used to like them but of course times change. The last track Birds was a highlight as it was a bit like the old them.

Anyhoo, having heard a couple of tracks I’ve got high hopes for next months Squid release.

Listening to the new one by DITZ at the moment, not sure about it. Maybe I’m seeking things a bit more mellow in my old age.
Im looking to get this on vinyl. Have had a listen and really enjoying it- bit Idles in places and live they are brilliant.

Excellent Soul compilation on the way on Ace records, curated by the man himself.

I have most of these scattered far and wide, but playing a few of them this morning make you realise how good they were.

Marnz Malone - Sabr is very, very good.

Think he’s out of prison next year, wouldn’t be surprised if he goes absolutely stratospheric once he’s out.

While I’m not claiming this is necessarily ‘great’, this week’s recommended release comes with a personal endorsement.

One of my first jobs, I worked for a few years for a small design agency, run by a husband and wife. There was 6 of us altogether; the wife had been our tutor at university and hired me and three fellow graduates to start the company up. They ran it out of a converted part of their huge house, and it was a crazy fun place to work. Not least because the boundaries between home and company were relaxed, and they had five small kids who used to run around the place, and we frequently - employees and family - all had lunch together etc. It was chaotic but cool, refreshingly un-corporate.

One of those kids - who I remember as a bonkers 4 year old - was Amelia. So to see her doing this is great. I messaged her the other day, and she actually remembered those days - and me and my fellow workers - with a lot of fondness. “The five of us kids adored you guys,” in fact. Her Dad sadly passed away a year or two ago, but he was a huge music fan, and I’m sure he would have burst with pride to see this.
