The philosophy sounds interesting. He seems fun. Whether something that works in the Swedish league would be as effective in the pretty ruthless Premier League is the question.

A bit like the difference between the Championship and the top level, where suddenly all those opposition chances that went begging are made to look easy by the leading strikers.

Has anyone done dental due diligence?

Now we know the truth of the ancient proverb:

When your manager has to open wide
Then your season will start to slide

(This is from the same book of runes that says When your manager's teeth are taken out, Many NSC members suffer with gout)

That Sky Sports interview is obviously a bit of a puff piece, but it sells him very well. Makes him sound like just the guy to build on RDZ's work and turn it into something trickier to play against... just like RDZ was the right guy to build on Potter's work, who was the right guy to build on Hughton's work. Almost as if Tony knows what he's doing (and I say that as someone who's had big reservations about RDZ's departure)

No reliable sources have linked him to Albion, to date.
I can't see it. We have a clear, defined way of playing, developed over the last 5 years.
This would seem to throw that all away.
Or it could progress us more and there is a small chance it could result in us putting the ball in the back of the net more often.

It is still possession based football. Back 4 and a double pivot in build up. Little bit of protection from the double pivot as well as they sit deeper to stop the counter attacks, which may be essential as the front 4 seem to have a play where you like policy and he close to the ball. Ideally I assume you would want some quick attacking full backs as there is likely to be a lot of space one side always and defences will have to decide wether to follow the man of pass the man on. Some situations will create massive overloads which is generally the RDZ and potter ways as well, this method is just a different way of doing it. Looks fun but not that dissimilar from what we have already seen until the final 3rd

I just wanted to chip in and say the standard of football in Allsvenskan is absolutely SHITHOUSE.

carry on.
We know that, but that doesn't mean we don't produce fairly good managers every now and then. If HR is the right choice you'll never know, he could be out the door before Christmas. Like de Zerbi or anyone else, you just don't know. And that's what make it so fun, I think, you hope for the best!

Just thought of another reason why I want this guy.

Chelsea sacked Poch so they could nick in ahead of us and get McKenna. How funny would it be if the McKenna interest was just a decoy while we sew things up with Rydstrom? Another Bloom victory over the American Boehl-end.

(But tbh McKenna impresses me too and I'm trusting Tony's judgement for now.)

Well this certainly ticks the I've never heard of him box. Very intriguing style of play, which might help us against a low block as those overloads up front should force defences out of their rigid patterns which stymie us so often.

I'm in!
