I was all set for work from home this evening. Tottenham v Man City on one screen, Albion on the radio.

I looked it up last night and the page said 'tomorrow'. Unfortunately, I looked it up just past midnight...

No loss, just a game to listen to tomorrow night.

But have any folk on here gone a step further and turned up for a match that wasn't happening ? I would extend this to occasions other than football.

It did look a bit weird when there was no match thread. Glad I decided not to start one.

We drove to Oxford to see Mrs T's pal's choreography (some modern dance malarkey) a few years ago and Mrs T had got the f***ing month wrong.

It made me laugh when we went to the Island of La Palma a few years ago. Two different couples had booked their hotel in La Palma....Tenerife!
I shouldn't have, but I did laugh!

I bought tickets at the beginning of April to see Greg Davies on April 19th. Got really excited, asked the Mrs if she was looking forward to seeing him in a couple of weeks, it was met with a raised eyebrow and "it's next year you twat."

The 5-0 demolition of Orient on NYD 2011 …. I thought we better start getting ready for the game, as we only live 5 minutes from Withdean Stadium.

Only to find out it that the game had started and finished. An fkn early lunchtime KO.

Gutted .

My sister in law and her mate once turned up at Tenerife Airport to fly home, to discover that the flight was the day previous. In booking a late deal they hadn’t spotted it was a 6 day holiday. I shouldn’t laugh …… but 🤣🤣🤣🤣 .

My sister, BIL and their 3 kids did exactly the same one year coming back from a holiday in Europe (can't remember exactly where). They showed up at the airport only to discover the flights had been booked for the day before! I think it cost them a couple of thousand pounds to book new flights.

Turned up for 2 gigs on the wrong day. One was a day early. Sadly the other was a day late and after Misfits had played.

Only a few weeks ago my aunt and her husband booked tickets for a Milton Jones gig. Turned up at the theatre on the date to be told they were exactly one year too early as the tickets were for April 2025.

Not as bad as going all the way to Leeds, staying the night before then...

I walk to the ground and I think I'm slightly late. Yet a lot of folks are outwith the stand pint in hand. I go to the gate and they get funny about letting me in. Still suspecting nothing I can't understand why.

Eventually they let me in. I go up the stairs and the crowd are roaring. The game has started. I notice on the TV screens that it's well in the second half of what looks like a re-run of a previous match. Had obviously been on show pre-match. But, hold on, that's Cucurella. He's only been with us this season. How odd.

I go into the stand and then it all becomes clear. I have turned up for 3pm kick off. The match started an hour earlier.

I remember driving up to watch us play Sunderland at the Stad de lux about 15 years ago, 3.00 kick off.

I smiled as we overtook a car load of gooners at around 1.30, on their way to their game at St James' park.

As we listened to Alan Green deliver the second half commentary of Newcastle vs Arsenal on the car radio.

Early in the AMEX era I definitely set off for a game 48 hours early. Was very close to the station before I got suspicious.
I also got a friend's wedding day wrong which I discovered almost exactly two hours before the wedding which was over two hours away. Pre sat nav and I had to invent my own diversion due to accident on motorway.
Managed a great entrance careening up the dirt road to venue at 70 mph in my fiesta, skidding the full length of gravel car park sending up massive cloud of dust (let's pretend that the fact I ended up in an actual parking spot correctly aligned was all skill) emerged from said cloud shrugging on suit jacket and joined guard of honour outside church exactly as newlyweds exited.

Someone at work asked me “am I going tonight?” I doubted myself then literally 2 secs after he asked my phone pings and the mrs asked about mill road parking tomorrow night

I mentioned this on the Crawley thread.
BBC Radio commentator turned up for the postponed match last week. Parked up and went into the stadium. Couldn't work out why no one there.
True story he admitted to live next day.

People often comment on players just before the end of the season “being on the beach” ..so I guess a lot have turned up early for their holiday 🤔

My Dad recently attended, greeted people for and sat through a funeral before realising he was a day early (coincidentally the deceased had the same name as the person who’s funeral he was supposed to be attending) and the one he was due to attend was the following day.
Also involving my Dad, we drove to Dagenham for the Boxing Day game (2010), parked up and we’re walking around the ground before wondering why it was so quiet. Apparently we were two of the only people that hadn’t heard it had been postponed.

A friend hadn’t realised one of our home games had moved to a 12:30 kick off and thought it was 3pm still. Got to the Amex as all the crowds were leaving.
It was thanks to @Muhammed - I’m hard - Bruce Lee posting his arrival at the Amex, on Facebook, that the same didn’t happen to me. I just about arrived at kick off. Phew.
