I’m not overly disappointed. I expect our contract offer may have been on a significantly reduced wage due to his likely appearances.
I wonder whether this may signal the end of Milner’s stay as I think Lallana was instrumental in persuading him to come.

always put in a shift for us, and an excellent player on his day. we will miss his invaluable experience. i know RDZ wanted him to stay but tbh it feels like now is the right time to move on. wonder if he will continue playing or go into coaching, either way, sounds like he wants a move back closer to his family. maybe a years deal at somewhere like burnley would allow him to continue playing but be closer.
I thought there was something about moving into a coaching role when he signed but obviously not.
On the playing side, yeah, nobody can deny it's best for both parties.

I think this is a shame. I was hoping he would stay on in a more coaching capacity. His experience and influence behind the scenes will be missed.

I've posted a few times on here that I doubt the wisdom of making someone one of our highest earners seemingly because of an assumption he would take a coaching job and be good at it rather than for what he was offering on the pitch

Been great for us but even this season has felt like one too many at times. Pleased we haven’t made a sentimental decision. Hopefully we do the same with Milner

"I genuinely do feel I'll be back here in some capacity in the future." Good to hear from a man who has been a great servant on and off the pitch and I think he'll be a great coach
