I don’t know about the number of injuries other clubs have had but I’d be surprised if most injuries occurred during training. It’s unusual isn’t it?
There’s been an unprecedented rise in injuries across the league - there’s no proof either that our injuries are primarily occurring in training - although training may expose an injury that had been sustained in the previous match which the players had exacerbated, either by playing on or not resting it post match (as Fergie did).

Maybe it’s still the impact from Covid - delay to the start of the 2020/21 season, fixture congestion and shorter summer break. The WC during the 22/23 Season led to a 6 week break from EPL, further congestion/fatigue etc and another short summer. However, West Ham have competed in all competitions this season yet have the lowest number of injuries so it can’t be fixture scheduling alone ( Brighton, in the other hand, had the most recovery times over the Christmas period). It may even get worse next season with changes to UEFA competitions expanding the Group stage from 6 to 8 rounds.

I would also add that by one player’s account, RDZ’s training sessions are less physically demanding than Potter’s were.

I can say with certainty that two of the most important weren’t. March caught his studs on Man City’s turf. Gilmour was injured on the pitch in Scotland duty.

Mitoma was played unfit by Japan and had a back issue after one game back.

Can you tell me how you know all the others were in training?
I don’t but we have had many injuries revealed before a game when the injured players did not appear to have a problem in the previous game. I admit to guessing though. Do you know better?

Seems crazy to blame RDZ when our medical department upped and left at the start of the season.

Any impact injury in training will be a result of players being silly with each other, but ours have mostly been muscular or ligaments.

It’s reasonable to assume Enciso also caught his studs but on a training pitch. Most muscular injuries will be a mixture of conditioning and load.

Let’s say ALL the others are that- do you not need to be physically fit to play high intensity football twice a week? A coach who didn’t encourage that would be deserting his duty.

It’s almost certain some happened in matches and the player didn’t want to come off, and then exacerbated it training isn’t it?

Solely blaming coaching is nuts. It’s the amount and intensity of modern football, as the table posted earlier proves.

I was a fan for a while, however now I think that much of his early success was due to the good work done by the previous coach and his staff. To be honest I’m really struggling to name a player who he has improved this season. A previous poster said they have faith and TB should back him in the transfer market, but sadly we aren’t Chelsea or Man City and that isn’t realistic within the ffp structure.

A happy-clappy who thought our summer 23 transfer window fantastic and relegation form over 7 months great viewing.

Burying their head in the stones on the beach.

I’ll just say this. The bad form has been coming. But we’ve also been unlucky. To deny the reality is just stupid bias. Ppl are entitled to those opinions like I say but it doesn’t mean they aren’t wrong.

To reiterate I’m pro RDZ. It’s been a long season. Let’s not ruin it now by treating this guy like a mug. We needed a bit more luck and a bit more experience. About 10 games too many and 7 players too few.

They left in late November. One had been with the club for over 9 years and another for more than a decade.

No one can ever take away from him the incredible Chelsea to Bmuff 12 months. A long sample of games in the hardest league in the world, playing different tactics to Potter. It’s an insult and illogical where some attribute that to Potter’s short purple patch at the very end.

I just think that RDZ needs circa 18 outstanding footballers in the squad to carry it out. Not all bought, he turned decent or young players into the real deal. The squad quality took irreparable damage last summer, together with the injuries, it sealed our fate as plummeting also rans.

I don’t know the figures for last season but yes, there is an unprecedented rise not just in the number of injuries but in severity and is definitely a league wide issue - there’s no proof those injuries are primarily occurring in training - it’s just the case, training may expose an injury that had been sustained in the previous match but the players had exacerbated the injury, either by playing on or not resting it post match (as Fergie did).

Maybe it’s still the impact from Covid - if you remember there was a delay to the start of the 2020/21 season which led to fixture congestion - there was also a shorter summer break. We then had the WC in the middle of the 22/23 Season which led to a 6 week break from EPL and further congestion/fatigue etc Having said that West Ham have competed in all competitions this season yet have the lowest number of injuries so it can’t be fixture scheduling alone (and don’t forget, Brighton had the most recovery times over the traditionally congested Christmas period).

It may even get worse next season with changes to UEFA competitions expanding the Group stage from 6 to 8 rounds.

Anyway, point is, it is ridiculous imo to blame our injury situation on RDZ - or assume there’s something wrong with his training sessions - I actually think he’s worked around our injuries very well by playing players out of position and rotating so while we play a style of football that is tough on the ankles and knees, the level of injures is occurring across the EPL - I would also add that by one player’s account, De Zerbi’s training sessions are less physically demanding than Potter’s were.
I'd have been tempted to type 'no'.

But I've had a particularly busy and f***ing annoying day today, and have barely had time to finish my

After we take three points away from Dean Court at the weekend everyone will be tipping their Trilbies and tooting 'hooray!'.
