I'm assuming the posters here are on a wind up or didn't watch the game

The only mistake he made was not feigning injury when walker fouled hin.

There are a lot of posters who really and going by their attacks, personally despise Jason Steele. Including spite when RDZ starts with him. Similarly Verbruggen is portrayed as a demigod.

Yep - crap goal keeping not to save an incredible, first class header from Kevin de Bruyne into the the top right corner. Then of course Barco being caught in possession on the edge of the box - Steele really should take flak for that. The free kick that led to Foden’s goal shouldn’t have been given but it was a great free kick, awkward ball and went in off the deflection. Steele should have beaten Walker to the ball before Alvarez tapped in the fourth but Walker looked like he fouled Steele to me.

EDIT - For the dense and slow to catch on - that was all tongue in cheek - Steele couldn’t have done anything about the first 3 goals and was fouled on the fourth.
He is shite though.

No - if he was ‘shite’ he’d be playing for a League 1 side not selected by one of the best managers in Europe to play in a EPL side.

You really don‘t know better than RDZ you just think you do. 😜

Every shot on target goes in. He ain't good enough.
Can’t blame him for 1st, 2nd or 4th goal. World class header, huge deflection and unlucky/borderline foul. The second was a collective defensive cock up. Any one of 4 player could/should have cleared.

Plus he saved from Doku.

I agree Bart is the better keeper but it’s not fair to blame Steele for every loss.

De Zerbi either picks him because they're mates , he fancies him or Steele knows a secret about him.

The anti Steele bellends are about the worst Brighton fans I’ve come across in 20 years of reading this anger site. How can you stab in the back a player (who is exactly the same player) who was one of the key men in getting us the unbelievable over-achievement of 6th place last year? That’s some cold hearted bastard stuff right there. f*** ever being in any trenches with you guys

It's completely obvious that Steele played today, because of City's high press and he has more ability to pass calmly and break the City lines if they overcommit.

OK. It didn't work. But I guess beating City isn't that easy, especially with more players injured than fit and some highly generous reffing.

This isn't on Steele

We concede very high quality chances. Due to a combination of ....

Throwing 6 to 8 players into attack whenever we break
Dogged devotion to high risk playing from the back
No defensive midfield cover

He was in goal for 6 of our 18 wins last season. We probably would have finished higher without him in goal for any games.

I’m not sure that there’s any other manager in the PL that would play him as first-choice keeper. He spent the rest of his career at Championship level for a reason.

Bigger keeper gets the first.
Third Steele plays barco into trouble
Fourth was a mess which he was part of.
They’ve just shown some analysis on Sky which highlights Steele’s pass into Barco set us up to open up City. Barco’s touch let him down otherwise it was game on.

You’d probably just accuse them of talking bollocks if you watched it though…

Soon as I saw him as a starter today I just knew we Would let in a hat full
That was the feeling I had away at Rome. After spending hundreds to be there and drinking the whole day, I suddenly sobered up when I saw the starting line up and it was a horrible feeling.

When I saw his name in the starting line up, I assumed it was because of an expected trouncing and a desire to protect Bart from the knock in confidence.

I both agree and disagree.

Jason Steele is employed by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. When the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club throws Jason Steele the jersey and selects him to play, and Jason Steele plays the very best he can - surely no-one can have any issue with Jason Steele at all.

If you think Jason Steele has just gone through the motions and not given the proverbial 110% then by all means call him out. I wholeheartedly think you're wrong, but if you believe he's not tried - fill your boots.

If it's the case that you think Jason Steele is not good enough then your issue isn't with Jason Steele, it's with either Roberto De Zerbi for playing him, or with the club more broadly for not recruiting a better goalkeeper. Don't take it out on Jason Steele.

Jason Steele is a model pro who through sheer guts and determination has appeared at a level higher than many thought possible, having been selected by a manager who many think is one of the best in the world. He's suffered all manner of setbacks to get where he is in the game today. If you're throwing shit at Jason Steele. it says far more about you than it does about him.
