You will - but you wouldn't get goals ruled out for such ridiculously slim margins as we did yesterday. The attacker would definitely have been gaining an advantage even if there was a dispute over the last inch or two. If people still want to argue about that, let them. It doesn't really matter - we just need an interpretation of offside that reflects the original intention.
I have sympathy with the lawmakers here

Can't win, make the lines thicker people complain, keep it as if, people complain

No they didn't, polls at the time showed the majority wanted VAR in place
I seem to recall just about every pundit, journalist and fan in the country baying for video refs after Lampard’s “goal” at the 2010 World Cup.

I really can’t shake the feeling people are miffed because a borderline but probably correct decision led to a result they didn’t want to happen happening, which I’m afraid just turns the whole thing into little more than sour grapes.

People are annoyed because this was not how it was sold.

I understand offside is offside, but when it comes down to what we saw yesterday and previous incidents (macs wonder strike disallowed etc etc) it's gubbins.
If we are disallowing goals for that, they need to start checking correctly given corners/throw ins/fouls - as they have more impact than a toe nail being offside.

That's before we even look into yellow cards and the impact they have on matches/suspensions - Havertz dived and should have received second yellow v Brentford, then popped up to score winner.

Lampard's 'goal' had people baying for goalline technology which has - with one exception - been a huge success, unlike VAR.

Depends when the VAR stop the video. One frame back and he is probably onside.

Do they freeze the frame at point of contact with the ball or when it leaves the foot of the player passing the ball. Unless they are recording at 900fps, there will be too much error to call these close decisions.
I checked IFAB law 11 and it has a definition that the play is the first point of contact.

This incident has stuck with me... One pundit, I want to say Andy Townsend, was covering a match in which there was an incident, ref made a call, but Andy doubted it. They spent the next five minutes looking at various replays from a range of angles and ultimately he said he wasn't sure, and couldn't say with any certainty. But that it showed why we need to bring in video replays.

He was so determined to argue for video replays, he didn't give any thought to how logical his comments were. However, seemingly quite prophetic.

How embarrassing. They scraped through against a team in a lower division on penalties, after conceding three goals and very nearly losing after a marginal offside call, and he acts like he’s achieved something special.

Interesting you should say that.

Here's Neal Maupay acting like a cock, in a 3-3 FA Cup draw against a team THREE divisions below (for Brentford v Barnet). Go to 4:18 to watch him score a penalty, (awarded for a scandalous dive by Ollie Watkins) then celebrate in face of the teenage keeper, making his senior debut. And to 7 mins to see him try to get a Barnet player sent off.

In fact, he only came off the bench when Manure were 3-0 up, and didn’t actually take a pen.
Speaking of Antony... I suspect it's up to the respective clubs to decide what's included in the matchday programme, but I was disappointed to see it featured an interview giving Antony a platform to go on about how:

"[His goal against Newport County earlier in the cup] came despite everything I've been through, very difficult moments that have been tough not just for me individually but for my family as well. Everything we've been through and we're still going through hasn't been easy ... I keep going, as I mentioned, despite what people say without knowing my circumstances."

Insofar as it's official Manure communications, hardly what I'd call remaining neutral while the investigation(s) into Antony play out. But then again, he's on the pitch almost every week, which tells you everything you need to know.

Wow, now that is classless.

At least Arsenal make them shut up all the time it's being brushed under the carpet

They are very rare though, haven't Liverpool only ever had one. The one where Klopp suggested the game should be replayed

If we are comparing errors v 6 clubs and the rest of the league there will be less.

The idea it's always in favour of the top clubs is just wrong.

Arsenal handball v Pool
Mac sending off against bmuff

Just two more poor calls v Liverpool.

Why are you being such an arse about this? I'm really struggling to understand the point you're trying to make and why you're being so righteous?
Because I was right.
Yeh, you're talking bollocks mate. Only a small percentage of match going fans ever wanted this
This is just blatently untrue. Video technology was peddled as the panacea by the tv people and moaning managers who had just had a decision go against them. A large majority of fans jumped on board too. Trouble is - none of them had actually thought through how it would be implemented and how it would ruin the game.

A minority did think it through and tried to point out how it would have to be implemented and how it would ruin the game.
