2 Spanish teams out - how does that change things re which country gets the extra champs lge spot? (Not that it matters to us now re Europe but still!)

Even before tonight Spain were extremely unlikely to get one of the available spots so it makes little difference.

Doesn't Dortmund going through make a difference though?

Are Dortmund in Spain now?

I've quoted all the relevant post to make it easier for you @AZ Gull

It would be better if we didn't get the extra place next season, if we're not going to clinch it (as seems most likely at present).

Having the extra place promotes a 'worse' team into each competition, making it likely that next season's average placings would be worse and this reducing the chances of an extra European place in the following season.

Not bothered about the extra space now - would be funny if Chelsea finished 8th and missed out! Although I guess they might prefer it that way.

We've effectively had an extra spot this season, just not in the Champions League, by virtue of West Ham getting winning the Conference League last season. We are still in the running for a top 2 finish, although have lost ground to Germany last night (but any German team winning last night would do that as we didn't have any games. Arsenal vs Bayern tonight could be vital to either countries chances). So I'm not quite sure that England getting the extra spot again would make it any harder to secure a top two finish the following season.

Don't expect we'd go for him but Ian Maatsen has been great for Dortmund this calendar year, wonder if Chelsea will offload him this summer.

They want to. He has a £35 million release clause in his contract that can be triggered from the summer.

So which one to watch

Man City v Real Madrid or
Bayern Munich v Arsenal

….hmm..maybe one on the box and the other on the IPad ..could be tricky as I’m eating supper about KO time…that’ll be three things to concentrate on 🤔

Hoping these two produce another goal fest like first legs

BTTS in both halves, 98/1 double

Grealish is the weak link in the City side, their build up play is generally wasted once Grealish gets the ball and does his slow dancing moves, easy to defend against. Either stick him in the middle or sub him for a team player

Funny how we see games differently - I think he’s been their best player in that first half. Has Carvajal on toast (booked), and forcing Valverde to double on him as a second right back. Foden, on the other side, has hardly had a sniff.

45 minutes for Pep to earn his corn...City have their best front 5 out already on the pitch, not sure what the subs can offer ?
