It says a lot about his personality and character that so many people knew 'of him' even if they did not know him personally. I hope his friends and family can take some comfort from the fact he touched so many people.

Didn't he lead the fans across the pitch and into the West Stand at the boycotted Mansfield game? The re-taking of the Goldstone!

RIP Nigel.
He did

Just from reading this thread you both had dodgy press passes in common!
Yes, it was one of the Worthing crew who first told me about it all. The East Sussex Gazette and Sport would never have got off the imaginary press had it not been for Nigel's gang 😂

I think Nige knew more people than anyone I’ve ever met. It took for ever to get anywhere at times
I wish I could tell some of the stories but it’s not the right place really. Get to his funeral if you can and you’ll hear some great stories
Will the beers finally be on him ? 🤔

So sorry for your loss. I’m somewhere in the background in the north and remember that game but not who we played. Any idea which game it was?

I read of this tragic and sad news yesterday. Always a regular 'face' from the old days at the Goldstone. I'd often see him when I lived in the Worthing area years back and chat over all things Albion. Always cheerful and happy. The little man with a big heart. R.I.P. Nige.

I’ve a feeling we lost 0-1 to Crewe.
It was Crewe, he was originally going to be mascot against Cardiff but that got postponed at 1.45pm, as you did back then, we just stayed in sponsors lounge, got pissed and Goosey smoked a ‘herbal’ cigarette with Mrs Bellotti up in the West Stand.

So we did the Crewe game three weeks later 👍⚽

Never knew the fella - my fault I'm sure - but what's the 'Bushfire' thing all about? RIP, obviously
I think it was Shrewsbury away of maybe on a Worthing coach when Nige was starkers and we turned the flames 🔥 up on our lighters and set fire to his genitalia, He spend the whole game watching the match wearing only a surgical mask around that area nursing burnt testicles. His underpants got thrown out the skylight of the coach and landed on the windscreen of our police escort. They turned them on to get rid but they got caught and wouldn’t come off. I’m crying and laughing at the same time.
You cant forget that 😂😂 but why would you ever want to
