Does the OP know anyone who has got a SIM card reader? He could then check if contacts are stored on there. If they are he can confidently do a factory reset without the sim inserted of course

Any recommendations (ideally based on personal experience) to get the keypad unlocked on an old Nokia, preferably in or near Brighton?
Note that this is not to unlock the phone from a previous network provider - it is simply to get past the keyboard lock.
The background is that my 90 year old mother-in-law is in hospital after a serious fall. She would like to use her phone, but is confused as to what the code is to unlock the keypad. When asked, she gave two wrong answers - the phone is now saying that a third wrong number will lock the phone completely. I am not interested in a factory reset, as I would not want to wipe her contacts (I have no idea if they are saved to the phone or the SIM - I would guess that is likely to be a mixture of both).
She has given me the phone, and asked if it can be 'repaired'. I am happy to travel if needs be, but I would imagine that there must be a decent phone repair shop somewhere between Hove and Eastbourne, that one of the many people here have used for a similar problem. The phone is a Nokia 6303i, I believe. Happy to remove the keyboard lock, or set it to '0000' or similar, once I can get past the keyboard code lock.

There's a computer shop in Blatchington Road and a mobile phone place on George Street.
A few years ago one or both of them helped someone I know get stuff (including his contacts numbers) off of some old devices for his dad who'd had a stroke.
It might be worth putting the SIM card in a different phone but I'm not sure if they were stored that way on that model.
You can park in the big Tesco car park for a couple of hours if you spend a fiver in there.
OR ... (and this is where I become a callous dickhead looking for cheap laughs) ... You could ask Piers Morgan if he knows anyone that could help.
As a starting point put the SIM card in a different phone and see if the contacts are on it. If so problem solved.
*edit* a search shows those phones take a small memory card (sdhc) so take that out and put it in a usb card reader to see what is stored on that too.
Also worth plugging in the usb cable and plugging that into a PC and seeing what you can access.

There's a very good shop in Baker Street that may be able to help. It's called Complete Fone solutions. They won't charge you if they can't get into it. If you only want it for the contacts have you tried taking the sim out and putting it into another phone?
