I feel for you. I fell over on the golf course in the wet a few weeks ago and turned my ankle and landed on my arse…setting of a bout of sciatic. Years ago I was told I had a collapsed disc and I think it set it off. Bloody painful!

I am not necessarily in the don’t care camp, but I lost interest in this season after the roma game at home. I would love RDZ to stay here and next season start from scratch with a fully fit squad.
I hope you arse-travails have resolved

I'm with you on RDZ and the season. That's why I mock all the bedwetting after every game we lose. As for those who seem to want to enter into a suicide pact with Sheffield United fans. . . . the go-to solution is aspirin - after taking a couple, apparently one feels . . . completely better!

Ouch!! Hope it sorts itself soon!

Is it me or has something changed on NSC in the last 6 months?. I’ve only been a member since 2022 but I can’t remember ever feeling for my own state of mind, I may need to step back from NSC because of so much negativity about the Club, especially our manager - I have generally found it quite overwhelmingly depressing at times - so much, I even tried starting a ‘positive things to say‘ thread but those plastering their ‘bored’, ‘RDZ out’ messages on other threads soon derailed my positive thread - it’s weird, it’s like even trying to defend the Club, the players, being realistic of who we are, celebrating any achievement, seems to attract a negative response at the moment- the derogatory ‘happy clapper’ epithet, or worse imo apparently being ‘anti-post-match rant’ and an RDZ ’worshipper’ - there seems no space to say ‘it’s crap but guys, it really isn’t!’. I have most of these ‘RDZ out’ threads on ignore now, but as I said the other day, it’s a bit like wackamole sometimes - as soon as you put one on ignore, another pops up 🙄

Has NSC been like this in the past when Brighton hit a long dip in performance? It does seem quite excessive to me for a forum that is specifically set up for fans that ‘support’ the Club. Is it all because people are feeling an anti-climax from last season or something more pervasive and long-lasting?

Perhaps my definition of ‘support’ is just different that’s all - maybe certain STHers feel paying hundreds of pounds a year is supporting the Club and entitles one to be as negative about the club as possible - or travelling a few hundred miles in a car (try 500 on public transport during overtime bans!) entitles one to a sense of moral outrage when players fcuk up on the pitch?
Whilst not all doom and gloom posters are necessarily drunk I think of them as such. And any sensible person knows a drunk friend crying into their beer does not want sensible, objective arguments, they just want to wallow. All you can do is keep an eye on them and be there for them when they sober up.

Spare yourself a lot of stress by not replying to the doom mongers. They are not seeking a debate they just want to vent and ideally have an argument with a random stranger or two. Indeed some of them seem to revel and glory in it more than they do a Brighton victory.

Simplest way to achieve this is to not post or even read NSC for 48 hours after a shit game.

Works for me.

You wouldn’t have liked early NSC at all. Binfests and personal insults were rife and the team were genuinely shite!

Much more sanitised and PC these days
That wasn’t what I was referring to - of course every site has it’s share of personal insults/trolling/binfests - it was more a question of whether NSCers remember a time where there was this level of negativity/dissatisfaction being aired on NSC against the Club/Manager - or whether it was like this when we were on a string of losses/pissed off with Poyet etc in the CL - ie is this normal for fandom? Just asking out of interest as this is only my second season here.

We know we will be the underdog Thursday week and I can accept that. I so much agree with Harry Wilson’s post . Perhaps it’s the newer fans that never suffered the loss of our spiritual home The Goldstone, sat in the elements at Withdean or fought so hard for Falmer - if you are only accustomed to success you think it will always be there …
Whatever, the wingers and moaners are not true supporters.
RDZ & the rest are doing a great job. If we finish mid table in the Premiership, that is damn good. Who knows we may do a lot better , there is some way to go yet .
BTW Sorry to hear of your health issues Harry.
Do you really think our wingers are not true supporters?

Solly March is a definite supporter and never whinges!

Yes, I can remember it with most managers. I remember there was a massive binfest on here about Chris Hughton, and during the binfest I ran into him at M&S foodhall in Shoreham, he couldn't get the self checkout to work as he was putting the things on the packing side not the weighing side so I helped him out...actually felt sorry for the guy. He'd obviously been asked by his wife and kids to stop in and get something for dinner on the way home, and I stood next to him thinking, there are loads of people baying for your blood...I wanted to say something supportive as I wanted him to stay, but just froze a bit, helped him out and left him be....put it into perspective that I should ignore the idiots on here who have no care for the human side of football.

So yes in short, its happened and its been both better and worse...Just need to remember that not everyone who supports Brighton is on NSC...so its not a universal view, its just the view of those who care to be on an internet forum...

I believe , as has been mentioned before, that there are a lot more users on here now who are used to the Amex and possibly only PL football and their expectations are much higher than those who went to the Goldstone, Priestfield and Withdean.
As the older fans fade away, I fear that there will be far more "entitled " fans who have much higher expectations.

I am struggling with my health now, and my age and my mojo.....f***ing sciatica the latest bolleaux. The drive has become monotonous. A match costs me 7 hours, travel and that. Faversham is practically in Belgium. I'm 66 next month.

Well, I do care and always will. Even if I have to give up my season ticket. The occasional visit to the Amex would be wonderful.

I can understand, if you have to work on matchday, or have a young family, these are distractions. Possibly insurmountable.

But anyone who has the time to log on to NSC to start a great long thread about how they are a bit bored with RDZ, and would rather be having a wank that watching The Albion can f*** right off as far as I am concerned.
Two years older than myself and like you this endless moaning about RDZ

That’s a very helpful observation. I will continue to put all the RDZ whinging threads on ignore - I love our coach, he has ambition, passion and commitment and an amazing head for systemic football - he messes up, he is pretty awful in front of a camera much of the time and is probably a nightmare to work with (perfectionists usually are) but I truly believe we are privileged to have him.

Fantastic anecdote about Hughton 🙂

(and a perfect reminder that there is a human being tapping away on their keyboard behind every NSC post, or a young lad playing their heart out on the pitch, or a compassionate and probably very kind man sat in the dugout that are at the end of all the derision. mocking, anger and hostility we too readily dump on others in our little NSC world)

The “abuse” RDZ is getting on NSC is nothing in comparison to a VERY vocal minority screaming and throwing everything they could get their hands on out of the pram after some non winning streaks under Potter. It went on for more than a season too, as did some of the bad runs.

Poyet was a love in on here until that fateful game against Palace, when the place imploded, stoked by Poyet being a **** about his dismissal

Hughton’s last few months were toxic on here

Hyppia’s tenure was mostly pretty grim on here too

Um - I did have the self-depreciating grace to put a wink after my sentence  (and was deliberately paraphrasing Harry anyway ) Anyone would think I was the only NSC poster that ever makes long posts or contributes towards long threads - it’s become a boring trope to hit me with hasn’t it - funny (maybe?) when one or two people do it but not 5 or 6 times a day - Someone made a dig on the number Of posts I’d made on the Israel thread - it was actually less than they’d made on the Ukraine thread which I thought a little ironic - the piss taking it needs to be used sparingly if at all because sometimes I simply don’t get it and sometimes it’s just a tool used to silence a pov that someone disagrees with 😕
You do make, on average, the longest posts on NSC but I always read them because 1. they are usually interesting and informative and 2. you know to punctuate and spell. I'm sure their are some other's on hear who would of just bypast you're many long post's but not me.

Shine on you crazy BarStud.

Less seriously, if you really want some questionable company to and from a game and you can divert to J4 of the M20, I'll see what I can do.

If this thread is a reaction to the ‘I just don’t care anymore’ thread then it seems very the harsh. The OP in the other thread is not blaming Brighton, RDZ etc. They are commenting on a change in how they feel about football.

Unfortunately mate, those that choose to hear what they what they want to hear, will forever do just that.

As you rightly say, no mention of disillusion with tactics, results, transfer policy, RDZ, or even anything remotely negative about the Albion.

Just an open and honest account of how I presently feel about ‘football’ in general terms and to open up a discussion (that’s what a forum is for right?) with the wider NSC community.

Completely lost on the author of this parody thread, that there appears to be a pattern of consensus within my age demographic of some ambivalence towards football.

That this seems to have bypassed one particular vociferous sexagenarian, probably says more about him than it does me.

I wonder how much of the current lull so many of us are experiencing is because this is the first time in a while where we’re not playing for anything some way out, Europe looks gone and we’re not in a relegation / promotion race

Maybe we all needed it? It’s been a hell of a last 18 months on Planet Albion
