We lost a lot of time via uncovered pitches but boy were they ‘fun’ when drying out and D.L.Underwood was the man indeed. I recall The Alderman and later Geoff Boycott on TMS going on about a ‘sticky dog’. Those were the days…..RIP Deadly
I think I too watched that match on the box
. Was it a damp pitch and he destroyed us?... mind you he could destroy us on most pitches. Great memories of his era.

I think the weather was okay for the Wimbledon fortnight that year and that was when the festival at Hastings was. No, I think Deadly didn't need any help that day.I think I too watched that match on the box

I was at that JPL game at Hastings. He took 6 wickets for 12 runs in his 8 overs!
