Because X/Twitter is an echo chamber - people don’t engage in anything that doesn’t support their PoV. Why anyone would even bother giving her page views is beyond me but they do sadly - X is an unmoderated and toxic environment most of the time why anyone takes it seriously as a platform for serious issues is beyond me.

As a reader and not a poster on Twitter, it gives a good indication of the cut of someones jib!

I've just read through her posts, she is bizarre. Even now she knows it wasn't related in any way to terrorism, she is still standing by her opinion it is related and trying to draw it together, saying this is what Palestinians want..She is slightly unhinged, and thats very dangerous rhetoric...She doesn't permit anyone to post anything back to her on it either...I thikn that feature needs to be removed from twitter...why post if you aren't going to enagage in response...narcissistic?
Unfortunately she can’t do the maths.

Some peoples views are so entrenched I can't see a point of return.

I engaged with some English students who were demonstrating for Palestinian recently, they approached me first. I said I agreed with them on a wide range of issues.

But be careful I warned with your language because you can't fight racism with racism.

They had very nuanced views on the use of swastikas in protest and anyone who associates themselves with the Israeli flag is "Zionist scum".

I was lastly called an idiot.

It's clear that wanting peace in this conflict at the moment is completely off the table in many peoples minds. It's a continual cycle of revenge.

I bet they were White Antifa types, they are often the worst behaved and ironically act the most fascist.

I think many (particularly younger) people have, and still are, becoming far more extreme in their views, words and actions, on both sides of the fence.
Largely brought upon by social media, talking and acting in real life, as they do on Twitter/X assuming that it's socially acceptable, and absolutely not helped by characters such as Donald Trump* and other high-ranking, popular(/ist) people online enabling (and thriving off of) mass divide.
You can't even go online these days without stumbling upon two groups arguing about literally anything, brown bread causes cancer but it's the progressive thing to eat vs white bread is a symbol of racism and if you find it in a supermarket, destroy it**, etc.

*I'm generally not for or against Trump, he's just the best recent example I could think of.
**I made that up, but honestly it's probably a debate that has happened at some point.

Very good post.

One of the problems of the left over the years has been the thinking that your enemies enemy must be your friend and it completely clouds the debate.

I also wonder (very honestly) that when god willing the Palestine people find justice, will those representing them abroad continue to assist the middle east in terms of democracy, equal rights and a dampening of religious extremism ?

I'm genuinely confused what the end game is in the minds of the protestors and I'm not entirely sure (after this encounter) who or what they the enemy actually is.

No separation of people and Government in their argument and by challenging their language in the context of history I was defined as the enemy too.

So true.

Nicky Campbell eg had a few anti Ukrainians callers in the past, denying any suffering or Russian warcrimes, from UK folk. Their rationale was; anything that upsets Biden’s US. Campbell cleverly ascertained that one caller was old school hard left, who denied Stalin or the Soviet’s had hurt anyone. When the caller realised he’d revealed too much, his closing comment was a seething “Call yourself a journalist”

They're only onboard as long as they can blame Jews.
No Jews, no news

Well this is going well.

Any more Israel stuff on here when there's a perfectly good other thread for it and I'll lock this. Six people dead and still NSC points scores.

Not helpful. If you go round labelling people with something you read on the internet (like they labelled me) there isn't much hope.
The only time I ever hear about 'antifa' is when a right winger mentions it on NSC. 'Alfredmizen' was obsessed. As you say, terminology learned off the internet.

Sadly I agree with you that at present there isn't much hope.

The only people who would be worth giving houseroom to are folk on either side who are reaching out to each other. In their wider world this is largely impossible.

Brighton factually.....
Killer obviously targeted women the police are saying, the only male killed tried to intervene Faraz Tahir, clearly not religious or racial.

"The videos speak for themselves, don't they?" commissioner Karen Webb said.
"It's obvious to me, it's obvious to detectives... that the offender focused on women and avoided the men.

His father, Andrew Cauchi, told reporters his son had battled with mental illness and recently come off his medication.
"He wanted a girlfriend and he's got no social skills and he was frustrated out of his brain," he added, when asked about why his son may have targeted women"

In slightly better news, it is being reported that the baby is being moved from intensive care to a ward and has been recategorised from critical to serious.
Let’s all hope this little soul makes a full recovery❤️
