Shocking atmosphere at Anfield from both sets of fans - silent for the most part! Two of the best sets of fans in the country supposedly šŸ˜„
Thought the same. Important title race game for Liverpool, but silent. Winning away against a top team, but Palace silent. Weird.

Media narrative created atmosphere that people buy into, like some mythical thing.
Was thinking maybe you just canā€™t hear the palace fans because of acoustics or position of mics, but then soon as the final whistle goes you hear a few songs from them. Yep mythical amazing support.

what is chances of palace catching us?
Theyā€™d need to win 4 of their last 6 assuming we donā€™t get any more points.

Theyā€™ve got

West Ham (h)
Newcastle (a)
Fulham (a)
Man Utd (h)
Wolves (a)
Villa (h)

Youā€™d hope thatā€™s a bit beyond them but if they get something from their next two games then it could be on.

Palace all the way in this one, the Liverpool narrative is so bloody nauseous, whether it's SKY, the BBC, whoever. They'll probably be a national day of mourning if they don't win the league, not to mention Sussex Liverpool plastics everywhere. The Palace rivalry is a pantomime, the Liverpool love in is anything but.

If the Palace rivalry is pantomime, then so is everything in football except where adults are morons who should be locked up. But that point aside, I agree that the Liverpool love in is nauseous. I hate that we have to listen go Jamie Spitter when they're on Sky, and Klopp is a self-publicising twat.

On the title race though, I'd rather City or Liverpool win than Arsenal, because of our location: there are Arsenal fans down here who can claim some legitimacy to their elegance, with a parent from London for example, so I don't have so much comeback to their gloating. But if a southern 'pool or City fan were trying to crow, you can just laugh in their plastic face. They and their family have nothing to do with the north (there are of course a few exceptions) and they have nothing to gloat about.

There isn't a lot of difference between 9th and 12th, so hard to care too much. Nevertheless, West Ham losing keeps alive a dream of europe if we miraculously manage to win our last five on the spin.
Come off it, if we end up 13th after 6th place last season that will be a significant step backwards

I think it's a LOT beyond them, despite the frankly surprising result, today. Besides, I'm sure we'll manage to bag a few more points along the way....somehow.

Given the way this season is going weā€™ll get a draw against City and then smashed by Bournemouth.

If that's the way you choose to look at it we're taking a step backwards regardless, whether we're 8th, 9th, 10th or whatever.

Personally i don't think this season is a step backwards at all. When you climb a mountain some bits are easy, some bits are hard, but as long as you keep pushing on you keep getting closer to the top. I believe we've taken a step forward this season even if our league position is worse.

We have already taken a significant step backwards, now just a case of how far backwards. On what Iā€™ve seen in the last month both the players and the manager are burnt out. Does anyone see us recovering over the next few games? 13th is more likely than 10th imo. Disappointing but not a disaster.

A ā€marqueeā€ Palace victory puts the tin lid on a deeply unsatisfactory weekend.

Thank the maker for a day off tomorrow and wine.

Correct 10th would be a step backwards. But an acceptable one as that was the clubā€™s stated target. These are measurable things rather than fortune cookie rhetoric

As Iā€™ve said since the beginning of March and got pelters for.

Weā€™re fortunate Palace took so long to replace Roy and that Brentford have had worse injuries than us this season or it would be worse.

Three seasons ago 13th was the best ever finish in our history. Don't let two exceptional seasons make us think that finishing 13th is bad.... If that can be our floor we should be delighted

Weā€™ve not finished 13th yet. I wouldnā€™t be quite so sure that you will be right.
